Hi guys. I ordered VG259qm(280hz with overclocking). I will only use it for competitive moba gaming(league of legends). However, due to the gameitself, I get high fps at first but lower fps (~140fps)as game proceeds.
My question is, e.g. if I have ~140 fps with 280hz refresh rate, and free sync turned off
1. Would the tearing be obvious at such high refresh rate (280hz) if I have 140 fps and free sync turned off
2. Would ghosting percent be the same as the value in reviews at certain refresh rate when my refresh rate is fixed (when freesync turned off) no matter what fps I get in game? E.g. ghosting of 140 fps at fixed 240hz refresh rate the same as ghosting of 300 fps at fixed 240hz refresh rate.
Hope my questions are clear. Thanks.

Re: overshoot and tearing questions with lower fps game at 280hz
Tearing is much less visible at 280Hz than 144Hz. It's almost invisible during these refresh rate stratospheres.jiexiong2008 wrote: ↑18 May 2020, 22:121. Would the tearing be obvious at such high refresh rate (280hz) if I have 140 fps and free sync turned off
For random tearlines, the tearline visibility is a function of refresh cycle duration -- 1/280sec.
Also, the VRR's scanout latency also mostly disappears at 280Hz too (refresh cycles delivered in 1/280sec with screen center of 1/560sec more lag than VSYNC OFF), so you might find games where you prefer to turn FreeSync on.
There's no easy way to answer this question, since ghosting/coronas varies a lot from panel to panel, that it's impossible to inform generalities. It can be better or worse. And depends on monitor's overdrive settings. Reviews will attempt to test/measure this.jiexiong2008 wrote: ↑18 May 2020, 22:122.
