Re: BENQ Zowie XL2746S/XL2546S Owners Thread
Alright guys. Need ya'll opinion. Where ya at Chief?
I miss my beloved crt. I only looked for new monitors when they both died!! I still have them both and am hoping one day have them restored into one working one... but anyways
I got a xl2546 a year ago with the help of Chief and others suggestions. I have dyac on an and use the 2nd to lowest brightest/ best motion blur settings with the crosstalk right below crosshair .... Sometimes i drop to 182 hz 600mhz for games that run closer to 182..
I'm digging it with my new beast computer..
I generally reduce all my settings to low to get as close to 240 fps as possible (or 182). I don't play pro anymore ... consider me an old man retired but still want that crt smoothness.
Question is...
Going to the 27 inch dyac +? Is it worth it. (I will sell this one if anyone wants it)...
I'm understanding I Get a bigger display! (VERY EXCITING NEVER HAD 27 inches)
Better colors (8bit?)
Better and brighter Dyac (so I can go maybe go to complete "persistence")
and a faster panel..
Is it worth the extra money to upgrade (probably 350 bucks)? Will I feel a difference? will 27 inches kick ass? What do you guys think?
PS ( I heard that HDMI some how works even faster??)
Thoughts guys? Might pull the trigger.

Let us vote for XL2746S/XL2546S so they get reviewed asap https://www.rtings.com/monitor/suggestions. I've spent my vote on xl2546s. Really curious if them BenQ monitors are worth the extra price over something like omen 25f.

There is a good discount on amazon.co.uk, its rather rare to see a brand new Benq Zowie top monitor on a sale. I went for it

It really depends on you because you'll get 10 different opinions here based on personal preference. Do you NEED a slightly better Dyac+ and faster panel? I doubt it will make a significant difference there. As for colors, yeah they should be a bit better with the XL2746S but it's still a TN panel after all even if it is 8 bit so you have to temper your expectations--you're not going to get top tier IPS/VA colors or angles. As for 27", again that's personal preference, if you have enough desktop space to push it back 2" to get the same viewing area as a 25" would be 2" closer then yeah I'd say it's worth it because I tried a 25" panel (Aorus KD25F) and I hated the 2" reduction from 27". In my honest opinion, if Zowie had a 165 Hz 1440p DyaC+ IPS monitor, I'd glady pick that over the XL2746S but unfortunately they don't and my priority in purchasing this monitor was for DyAc+.LordGurciullo wrote: ↑10 Jun 2020, 06:03Alright guys. If other vendors had BFI as good as DyAc+, I wouldn't have bought this monitor and instead gone for a competitors IPS + 1440p/165 Hz as I think that is the sweet spot for gaming. Unfortunately EVERY SINGLE other vendor has terrible BFI including Chief's BB approved Viewsonic because of how much brightness they lose which is a game breaker for me and those like me that love DyAc.

Right. Ten different opinions....
I don't NEED anything. Except love from a good woman... which I can't buy anywhere nor can I seem to find it. I can sell this for 350 and get it for 700 so its 350 more...
Some people say bigger isn't better but it seems super COOL! I would also love 240hz 1440 with Dyac 30 inch monitor but no computer would be able to get 240 at 1440... I used to be pro. but not anymore... But I still miss my fucking crt.
So I'm thinking this is the end game 1080 monitor until computers can get me 240hz with 1440.
Is it more pixely at 27inches? It seems like it would be better. My desk is big enough to move it back 6 inches if I want to...
Better colors!??! F33thy said it had worse colors. but you can confirm its better? better Dyac sounds awesome! I can push the persistence all the way down and still be bright...

I don't know who said it has worse colors, he should probably get his eyes checked. Once you use the XL2746S profile + tweak it a bit, the colors are pretty good and like I said, not quite top IPS/VA quality but close enough to where you won't be bothered. But I'd still not do any kind of professional work on this monitor but it's not really made for that so who cares. Your games will look just as good as they would on an IPS display is my point. But yeah if you have the desktop depth, then go for it, the 27" is a lot nicer for us older gamers vs 25".LordGurciullo wrote: ↑11 Jun 2020, 02:23Right. Ten different opinions....
