Turning ECO mode off makes a huge difference lol.
05/22/2020 UPDATE. The IPS 240hz monitor tier list.(I've measured/tried the all) and my honest explanation why.

Up until I turned the ECO mode off I wasn't liking it much.
I also have the Viewsonic Elite XG270 that I got a couple of weeks ago.
Somehow I was on Amazon at the end of May and was on the MAG251rx hit refresh and it was available so I purchased it. It sold out in less than an hour. I finally just received it today and at first wasn't to thrilled with it. On FPS mode the colors a very grey. But after some adjusting I've gotten it better. Just had a 15 kill 2991 damage game in Apex. Most damage ever. 9 freaking points away from 3000 damage badge!
I'm not to savy with these monitors so I'm sure it can be tuned more and hopefully someone can give me pointers.
I like the XG270's colors out the box better but the MAG251rx imo is smoother and faster input wise. Imo the MAG251rx is better for FPS and the XG270 is prolly better for everything else. Never had a TN but I imagine it would be a similar comparison.
I do not see the colors that RLCScontender sees, so hopefully he can help a brother out!

Thanks man, I'm glad I didn't pull the trigger on the XG270 now lol.Ryno24 wrote: ↑10 Jun 2020, 18:57Up until I turned the ECO mode off I wasn't liking it much.

No problem! Don't get me wrong the XG270 is a really nice monitor and has a ton of features, but if your just want performance in FPS's I think the MAG251rx has it beat.WayUpGaming wrote: ↑10 Jun 2020, 19:28Thanks man, I'm glad I didn't pull the trigger on the XG270 now lol.Ryno24 wrote: ↑10 Jun 2020, 18:57Up until I turned the ECO mode off I wasn't liking it much.

*BREAKING NEWS*
I would never have thought in a million years but the alienware aw2521hf is too slow to keep up.
The Asus VG259qm will be my 2nd permanent monitor. And the alienware aw2521hf gets the boot(i find having 3 monitors redundant, and i'm saving my 3rd monitor slot for the 360hz alienware monitor that's coming out later this year)
I did a quick retest of the MSI MAG251rx and the alienware aw2521HF
3.5ms g2g for the alienware and 3.0 g2g for the MSI I also got in TWO perfect UFO tests and put them in the same resolution and aspect ratio. I used my cheaper digital oscilloscope because i don't want to waste my time too much tinkering with it since i have to put in the hard numbers for the vg259qm, here's the oscilloscope i used and the photodiode i used to measure light changes from the two monitors.

Kinda sad that i had to let my alienware go. it's a very nice monitor but it's unfortunately 3rd place.
With me, i HATE losing. As a competitive gamer, i want ALL the advantages that i can get. When i buy expensive IPS monitiors, i ALWAYS tell myself "is this a legitimate contender against the OMEN x25f/Nitro XV252, the fastest TNs in the world? With the single button click on my controller/keyboard thanks to the MSI's godly cheating gaming app, and 280hz refresh rate, these two IPS monitors are locked and loaded to stand up against the fastest TN.

Insane testing you did there. I did not read through all 39 Pages but I read the first and skipped through some of the others.
I am wondering why you said Backlight strobing is a must have for you since you use it to break a losing streak.
Is there a reason then why you don´t always use it in the first place? It apparently makes you play better!?
I am also currently on the struggle if I should get the AW2521HF (340€) or MAG251RX (399€) or VG259QM (350€).
out of the three, it goes like this
1. MSI. Not available or too expensive?
2. Asus 25", not available or too expensive?
3. Alienware 25", not available or too expensive?
dont' waste your money on anythign else but these three.
i would go with the MSI given that option. the MSI is fast and has a godly gaming app where you can cheat in REAL TIME. For example, if you are quick scoping with a sniper rifle on CSGO or battlefield or want to get that perfect head shot, 1 click of a button and 240hz backlight strobing is on with the MSi, and boom, the guy's brains got blown out. or if i want to get that PERFECT kick of in rocket league, 1 click of the button to turn on 240hz strobing, and i get that PERFECT hit right in the middle. They will soon add "zero latency" on the MSI gaming app for the msi mag251rx as well.

to me, backlgiht strobing is pretty darn important. The MSI has this app where you can assign any macro, even the crossheirs. if you play with it enough, you can use that as a way to cheat or gain an unfair advantage.
also, the MSI can get a 12 bit color depth signal via HDMI @120hz

I can't read the text on these -- can you please post a fuller resolution of this image?
Or wrap the IMG tags in URL's -- so clicking/tapping on thumbnails will load a massive full size image.

EDIT: Thanks, now I can read the text.

same here, i too have a hard time seeing those texts. But i have added the backlink to those UFO tests so it's clickable now. Should've done that a long time ago when i posted my test result.

I notice I can see the scanlines (horizontally blurred screendoor effect) in the MSI image, but not the Alienware image (camera is much less focussed and/or lower pursuit camera accuracy margin), so comparison has some limitations.
However, even despite the pursuit accuracy differences, it's pretty clear the MSI has superior overdrive tuning. Even if not always good enough for all eyes (different human sensitivities to different artifacts...) the dome clearly has more symmetrical blur on the MSI.
