wow! should i get this predator g sync over Mag251, asus 259qm or xg270? its in stock now! what is the color accuracy like???RLCScontender wrote: ↑16 Jun 2020, 11:03CANCEL YOUR PRE ORDER AND GET THE PREDATOR G-SYNC MODULE.Spacepotato87 wrote: ↑16 Jun 2020, 10:07awesome comparisons! My replacement acer predator xb273 x came today. My previous one was badly tuned(it wasn't tuned at all, it was stuck at the Acer nitro XV273x OD tuning. (acer rep from canada informed me via youtube and had me send it in for a replacement.
This is the one they sent me and, the TUNING is excellent. This predator JUMPS a lot of monitors it should be in the very top. I will use two oscilloscopes for this because my cheaper digital oscilloscope is can't give me consistent rise/fall times.
I will do a double review coming up with the vg259qm and the acer predator xb273x since they arrived relatively close to each other. And how they fare against the beast MSI MAG251rx.
but yes, these THREE(FOUR if you count the vg279qm) are the fastest 240hz(280hz on the asus) IPS monitors.
Peak performance
1. Asus TUF VG259qm
2. Asus TUF VG279qm

This monitor IS probably the best monitor i've ever tested in my entire life.
want to see sub 2.6ms response times with 0% overshoot and basically 0-1ms input lag?
05/22/2020 UPDATE. The IPS 240hz monitor tier list.(I've measured/tried the all) and my honest explanation why.

MSI MAG251rx

(12 bit color depth)
vs
Acer Predator xb273x

visual acuity distance for 27" 1080p... This will give you a focal point disadvantage.

winner
MSI MAG251rx.
My three biggest reasons. 12 bit color depth>>8 bit color depth(the vibrance of colors is wayyy better on the MSi than the predator). Backlight strobing at 240hz>>ULMB at 144hz.
lastly and most important is the focal point disadvantage. WHich means that if you play on the MSI MAG251rx, your focal point should be 100%(peripheral vision, u dont' even have to move your head or your RETINA), whereas on the predator, bcuz it's a 27" monitor, you HAVE to move your eyes(retina) and you may even have to move your head unless you want to sit 41" away from the monitor(visual acuity distance).
24.5" is still better than 27" due to the focal point advantage. The differences in response times and input lag are so minal that i would much rather have 24.5", better colors, better strobing for compettiive reasons. Not to mention the MSi's gaming OSD app is among the best and most useful gaming apps out there.
td;l;
get the MSI MAG251rx if it's available. If you CANNOT WAIT, get the acer predator xb273x, there's literally NO demand for a 27" full HD monitor so u won't even have to worry about the monitor going in backorder. i would give it 2 weeks maximum, if the msi isn't restocked, then i guess u can get the predator. if ONLY the predator was 24.5" or 25", if that were the case i would pick the predator.

OK thanks for your help but there are two models one the xb273x with the gsync module and another xb273gx i think is the same one whitout gsync but the one with gsync is really expensive any thoughts about the xb273gx?kofman13 wrote: ↑16 Jun 2020, 11:10wow! should i get this predator g sync over Mag251, asus 259qm or xg270? its in stock now! what is the color accuracy like???RLCScontender wrote: ↑16 Jun 2020, 11:03CANCEL YOUR PRE ORDER AND GET THE PREDATOR G-SYNC MODULE.Spacepotato87 wrote: ↑16 Jun 2020, 10:07awesome comparisons! Xb253qgx isnt native g sync and the OD tuning arent as good. Input lag is still very low

OK thanks again buddy
So is the xb273x worth 220 USD more compared to the asus vg259qm?

Quickest/best way to get the MSI is check it the morning and keep refreshing the amazon page. That's what I did at the end of May. It sold out in an hour after I placed my order so you have to be on it at the right time. It was around 10 am eastern time.

Do you have an nvidia graphics card?
if so EASILY.
when i buy something, i tell myself "do i see myself owning this 3-4 yrs down the road with no ragrets?" if the answer is yes, then there u go. If you have to think TWICE about getting someting in favor of another, chances are, if u follow through with your original plan, you will regret it. the Acer predator xb273x just has too many uses. It's probably the best console gaming monitor(I know bcuz i tested it and the fastest 240hz monitor from 240hz and below. Only a small % of TNs. It's probably faster than 90-95% of TN.
if you put the 240hz g sync predator against the fastest TN, the fastest TN will lose. The response time differences are SO negligible that it's literally impossible to tell the difference in practice in my opinion. however, the input lag is night and day. The input lag is LOWER on the predator AND LOWER accross the refresh rate range. Whereas the fastest TN, the input lag starts to get horrendous the moment the FPS dips below 240hz.
TFT central posted these input lag results. The fastest TN Acer Nitro XF252Q has way more input lag than the acer nitro xv273x(the same exact panel and release date as the xb273x, difference is the predator has instantaneous no input lag thx to g-sync scaler and way better response times).

Wow, the characters that i lose 9x out of 10 before in smash ultimate, i EAT FOR BREAKFAST now that i dont' have anymore input lag issues.
If you play fighting games, i use a zone character. This zone character is slow and has very poor recovery and you need as little input lag as possible to win because you have to time your projectiles PERFECTLY to do any damage. welp, i went against the 2nd fastest character i super smash bros ultimate (SHIEKH). only the msi mag251rx woops i meant sonic the hedgehog is faster
Thanks to the lower input lag, i was able to predict the PRECISE moment he will jump based off the pattern that i saw. had i been off by 1-3ms, it would be a monumental whiff, and shiekh gets in and juggles me out and I lose a stock since my character has poor recovery.
keep in mind, these are all "sub conscious". I just happen to react naturally based off my skill level and the input lag of the monitor. honestly, i probably would've struggled keeping shiekh out if i used a panel that has more input lag.
