Hey guys,
Sorry to bring up post number 1 million regarding the XL2546S, but here goes.
I currently have the first revision of the XL2420T (120 Hz version) and I've been waiting to upgrade it for the new XL2546S for playing CSGO/FPS.
My question is, what kind of interface do I need to use in order to assure 240 Hz? Currently my old monitor only support Dual link DVI, but I'm not sure Dual link DVI supports 240 Hz? I have Asus Strix 1080, which does have both Dual link DVI, DP1.4 and HDMI (2.0b).
Also I do use my monitor hooked up with my work laptop with HDMI, but I read somewhere in the big thread about a problem with 60 Hz? Is this going to be problem for me?
XL2546S input on a GTX1080 - DVI, DP or HDMI?
Re: XL2546S input on a GTX1080 - DVI, DP or HDMI?
DisplayPort is the safest bet. The monitor will almost surely come with a DP cable included, so use that. Especially with nvidia GPUs, DP is recommended, because HDMI sometimes results in the nvidia driver thinking you have a TV, and as a result you get reduced color space by default.
This monitor seems to offer two HDMI ports, a 2.0 and a 1.4 one. The 2.0 port should support 1080p 240Hz, since that's within the HDMI 2.0 spec.
It also has a DVI-DL port, but DVI is quite dead. It's been replaced by DP. DVI is only offered as a compatibility port now for old GPUs that don't have DP. Many modern GPUs (and even monitors) don't even offer a DVI port anymore. There is no reason to use DVI anymore if your GPU support DP.

FYI the XL2546S is already obsolete, it has been discontinued and will be replaced by an upgrade in September. This is borderline criminal by BenQ. Just letting you know in case you can still return your monitor, depending on where and when you bought it.
