upgrade from Acer XB270HU to Samsung LC27G75 worth it?
I have an Acer XB270HU and I'm eyeing the Samsung G7 Odyssey LC27G75. Would this be a good move? I enjoy gaming at high refresh rates (GTX 1080, mostly Overwatch at 300fps) and I do minor photo/video editing work. Thank you for any help and may God Bless the United States of America

Do you do solo or competitive gaming? VA panels have been problematic with latency/ghosting for competitive gaming.
Also that specific Samsung model is mainly sold outside the United States.

Nothing too competitive. Me monkey brain like 165hz. Monkey brain really want 240hz. Looking for fluidity/picture quality above all else, gaming performance should be adequate

Looking at some user reviews and hardware unboxed the response times do even better than some TN panels and 240hz ips panels. Look at hardware unboxed review. If you look on reddit some users posted ufo test videos and pics. I was impressed and I have a VG259QM. Combine that with higher contrast and QLED with HDR 600 support I went ahead and purchased the monitor.communistsquared wrote: ↑28 Jul 2020, 23:48Nothing too competitive. Me monkey brain like 165hz. So I just got the panel and I can say it's absolutely worth the upgrade.
I don't have the card to push the frames but it looks ten times better than my VG27AQ at lower frames.
240hz using the blur busters ghosting test and it's pretty close to ULMB without the flickering which causes headaches or fatigue.
Speaking of flickering I haven't noticed any since this is a big issue. Colors look very good even though I can only run 8bit. I'm using a 1080ti but once I get a better card this monitor is definitely future proofed.
I'm kind of amazed Samsung was able to get VA to look this sharp and responsive. Definitely competes with TN and ips colors but at 1440p and 240hz. I don't even miss ELMB-SYNC. I have a VG259QM and this monitor looks faster and sharper.

I just got it as well. What you said is spot on, I'm very happy with it. I see backlight bleed and very minor flickering in some cases, but its not an issue for me. My GTX 1080 can only really run Overwatch at constant 240FPS, but it looked so nice that I ordered a new PC with EVGA 2070 Super (planning to step-up to RTX 3080 in a few months).

Glad you like it. I don't really notice too much blb. Hopefully I got a perfect monitor but don't want to jinx it. The HDR even looks good. Still don't know if I have the right settings but it looks much better than the VG27AQ HDR.
Like you I'm waiting for the RTX 3080 if the price is reasonable. Might even go for TI if the performance is a lot better to future proof. Don't plan on upgrading my pc for a good 4-5 years once I get that card.
I haven't noticed any flickering. I just updated to the hotfix geforce drivers but haven't seen flickering except maybe when it switches from SDR to HDR.
