For anyone who's interested, here's another review of the MSI MAG251RX. http://playwares.com/dpreview/57916781
I'm not an expert in reading response time tables, but that MSI appears to be faster than the ASUS VG279QM. http://playwares.com/dpreview/57710387#

Re: The Official *Asus VG259QM* Owners Thread (+ Secret Overdrive)
I can sometimes see very visible pixel inversion artifacts on my VG259QM. If I move the character around or move the camera with my mouse, I can see big ass vertical lines popping on the image (more or less pronounced depending on test scenario). Anyone else have this problem? I don't really see them in CS:GO, but I played DOOM Eternal now for a test and damn, it's bad. I also noticed them appearing slightly in Sekiro, but in DOOM these artifacts are very visible. If I set UFO Ghosting Test to 240/360 pixel speed, I also see these vertical lines appearing.
It looks similar to what you can see on the picture below. I found it on Blur Busters forums in a thread about pixel inversion.

If you can make it happen again try and change the monitors contrast and see if it goes away, my Alienware did that and was real odd, not sure why changing the contrast up or down 1 click removes it anyway.speancer wrote: ↑24 Sep 2020, 18:50I can sometimes see very visible pixel inversion artifacts on my VG259QM. I wonder if the 360hz panels will have this issue too, didn't notice it on my 280hz Asus yet.
Re: The Official *Asus VG259QM* Owners Thread (+ Secret Overdrive)
I don't need really need to make it happen, it happens all the time, it's just more or less visible depending on the in-game background, clearly visible in DOOM Eternal. Changing contrast did nothing. Duh, that's so disappointing, I was seriously thinking of keeping VG259QM, but with this level of inversion artifacts there's no way I keep it.Stevie66 wrote: ↑24 Sep 2020, 19:06If you can make it happen again try and change the monitors contrast and see if it goes away, my Alienware did that and was real odd, not sure why changing the contrast up or down 1 click removes it anyway.

Pixel inversion varies between units of the same monitor I guess? My current unit of VG259QM is defective anyway, it has a small cluster of stuck bright pixels and one dead burned pixel, I already opened RMA return ticket a few days ago, but still got some time before I need to return it. I got a brand-new HP Omen X25f in the box, waiting for its turn to be tested.

Re: The Official *Asus VG259QM* Owners Thread (+ Secret Overdrive)
On my Alienware random images and websites triggered vertical lines down the screen, and closing the image or tab made it go away, also changing the contrast did too, was very weird, looks like it's an issue with the 240hz AU Optronics panels but doesn't seem like all are plagued by it, never noticed it on my MSI and still haven't seen the issue on my Asus yet on my Alienware I found it in the first few hours. I will be returning this one because of dead pixels so I hope the next doesn't have those inversion issues because I really like this monitor.speancer wrote: ↑24 Sep 2020, 19:28I don't need really need to make it happen, it happens all the time, it's just more or less visible depending on the in-game background, clearly visible in DOOM Eternal. I see, I've had my current unit of VG259QM for more than 2 weeks now, and just tonight I actually tested it for inversion artifacts, because I mostly focus on motion clarity and competitive play performance. I did not notice it in my main game, CS:GO, I noticed it slightly in Sekiro, and now I noticed it being very pronounced in DOOM Eternal. You don't see any inversion artifacts on your VG259QM? I like this monitor enough to buy it again and count for a better unit in terms of pixel inversion.Stevie66 wrote: ↑24 Sep 2020, 19:35On my Alienware random images and websites triggered vertical lines down the screen, and closing the image or tab made it go away, also changing the contrast did too, was very weird, looks like it's an issue with the 240hz AU Optronics panels but doesn't seem like all are plagued by it, never noticed it on my MSI and still haven't seen the issue on my Asus yet on my Alienware I found it in the first few hours.

Nope haven't noticed any display issues at all with it except the dead pixels and for some reason alt tabbing out and in a game takes like 5 seconds(other monitors were much faster)speancer wrote: ↑24 Sep 2020, 19:41I see, I've had my current unit of VG259QM for more than 2 weeks now, and just tonight I actually tested it for inversion artifacts, because I mostly focus on motion clarity and competitive play performance. I see, I guess I'll just order another unit to see if it also suffers from pixel inversion. Is VG259QM your main and final choice? I presume that you returned any defective units you had (with dead pixels) and now you have a good one without defects?Stevie66 wrote: ↑24 Sep 2020, 19:49Nope haven't noticed any display issues at all with it except the dead pixels and for some reason alt tabbing out and in a game takes like 5 seconds(other monitors were much faster)speancer wrote: ↑24 Sep 2020, 19:41I see, I've had my current unit of VG259QM for more than 2 weeks now, and just tonight I actually tested it for inversion artifacts, because I mostly focus on motion clarity and competitive play performance. I think my VG279QM also had alt-tab issue you describe, it also took long for it to open games in full-screen. VG259QM that I have is free of these issues.

Re: The Official *Asus VG259QM* Owners Thread (+ Secret Overdrive)
If they don't honor my price error 360hz Asus then this is my final one, I'll see by the end of next month lol. Right now using the one with dead pixels but already started the RMA, waiting for the new one to ship before I send this back.speancer wrote: ↑24 Sep 2020, 19:57I see, I guess I'll just order another unit to see if it also suffers from pixel inversion. Re: The Official *Asus VG259QM* Owners Thread (+ Secret Overdrive)
Ok, well, I guess VG259QM has a chance of being my final choice, too. I'm not sure if I want to sacrifice overall IPS picture quality over top TN performance, but still I will be testing Omen X25f soon and Zowie XL2546K when it's available, for the ultimate comparison.
I was also thinking of getting the 360 Hz PG259QN, but I've heard that the first version of this monitor comes without NVIDIA Reflex, so that's a bummer, I'd like to have that feature
