XL2720Z 3D (Tridef?) with AMD

Post by BullDoser » 21 May 2014, 09:13

Hello,

I have few questions, would be nice if someone could answer.

As far as I know, AMD can do 3D only with HDMI (24FPS) and DisplayPort (60fps), Dual DVI is not available.
There is a monitor XL2420TX which has an emitter, I know it can do 3D through HDMI, but not sure about dispayport.
So if I could get my hands on a nvidia/other brands emitter, would I be able to use 3D? Tridef would be more than enough for me.
Also, there is so called "3D vision IR Emitter Emulator": http://3dvision-blog.com/forum/viewtopi ... &start=100 so basically, are there any chances I could set up 3D with my R9 270x + XL2720Z? Even HDMI would be good enough. And if there is a possibility, what would be the cheapest way?

Thank you very much!

EDIT: XL2720z has both HDMI and DisplayPort, that's why I'm so interested in 3D
EDIT2: A bit offtopic but, what the hell is Benq's "Gaming Refresh rate Optimization Management a.k.a. GROM"? I can't find any info about it. :)

The BENQ XL2720Z is capable of 3D Vision 2, in surround mode.
Scroll down that page and you'll see that it supports 3D Vision from the computer.
3D Vision also works in surround mode, if all are the same monitor.

However, I am not sure if it works over HDMI, unless the HDMI can accept 120Hz (which sometimes happens).

What do you mean by saying "it supports 3D Vision from the computer"? Do you mean that I would not need an emitter if I had Nvidia GPU?

This site says that XL2720Z does have an emitter: http://3dvision-blog.com/9205-benq-xl27 ... g-monitor/
On the other hand, here it says it does not: https://forums.geforce.com/default/topi ... z-problem/

So which one is right?

Wow, conflicting info.

"from the computer" means not "from a game console"

The Z series and T/TE series do not have an emitter, only the TX.

You can get an external emitter with a 3D Vision kit.
