I have been doing some research on purchasing a new monitor for an Xbox Series X, when I came across this sight. Specifically this post regarding the large input lag of the ASUS VG279QM. viewtopic.php?f=10&t=7143&start=10
The site admin explained himself very well. In the post he said the following:
I want to make sure I understood this correctly and how it would apply to a console (Xbox series x).60fps at 60Hz on a 240Hz panel can sometimes be more laggy than 60fps at 60Hz on a native 60Hz panel
BUT
60fps at 240Hz on a 240Hz panel will be less laggy than 60fps at 60Hz on a native 60Hz panel.
So the series x can run up to 120hz. However, a vast majority of the games currently can only run at 30/60fps.
There is a dropdown in the settings of the Xbox that you could use to change the refresh rate between 60hz and 120hz.
- So according to the quote above, as long as I have the xbox set to 120hz with a 120hz panel, there will not be a large amount of input lag playing a game as 30 or 60 fps?
(There are not many monitors with 120hz max, as most have 144hz, 165hz, 240hz.)
2. Would there be a large amount of input lag if I was playing a game at 60fps with the console set to 120hz on a 144hz panel? What about 240hz panel?
3. Is there a way to manually lower a panel with 240hz max down to specifically 120hz max?
