Help in deciding what to buy.

Hello all, currently trying to decide which monitor to buy.

Looking for preferably a 144-240hz monitor, at 1080p. I play competitively a lot, more than anything, but I still do like to play story mode games here and there.

I currently have a Viewsonic XG2405, its a 144Hz 1080p IPS monitor, and it has god awful response times, its basically the same panda panel as the one in the older 24G2 and idk how reviewers can say its good. pic for reference: https://www.techporn.ph/wp-content/uplo ... Test-3.jpg

So, naturally, I am a bit put off by IPS monitors. I don't want to make the same mistake again and buy another IPS which I end up regretting. However, at the same time, I do see that the top IPS monitors like the VG259QM and the MAG251RX have really good motion blur, so now I'm at a loss.

On the other hand, the Omen X 25 seems to be really good for its price, only issue seems to be its colors, which again dont seem that bad. Can someone guide me and help me buy a monitor thats worth its money and wont make me gouge my eyes out because of the motion blur.

Mbr, bls or whatever you want to call it, I don't like it on any monitor, it introduces miscro vertical tears that bother me a lot, I prefer to use monitors with their natural response time without tricks.

colors:
Omen x25 has a good image, no problem in this sense, compared to xl2546k it has fewer adjustments, it does not have the color vibrance so to push up the colors you will have to rely on your video card.

you have to decide based on your priorities, if for you the most important aspect, the one you can't give up, is the response time, take omen x25, it's amazing about this.

If input lag and responsiveness are the most important to you, get the Acer xv252qf

is there much difference in input lag and reactivity between omen x25 and acer xv252qf?
the answer is yes, acer is obviously more responsive and faster, even when you don't do 390 fps acer is more responsive

is there much blur difference between omen x25 and acer xv252qf?
the answer is yes, omen has much less blur than Acerxv252qf

Go with the X25 and you won’t regret, yeah the VG259QM is a great monitor, but the X25 is even better.I’m not sure why people think IPS actually competes with TN, I had to learn it the hard way because I bought 3 monitors and had to return 2 TN’s and stick with the IPS one just because I preferred the colors. Imo it’s better than the XL2546K, but can’t compete with high tier 240hz’s like KD25F, XF252Q and the X25.

Is what I was thinking as well, how much worse would you say the colors are on the X25 compared to the IPS? Considering I've been playing and using my IPS for over an year now, would it feel like a major downgrade?

Assuming that the X25 uses the same panel as the KD25F it won’t feel anything less than an IPS, maybe the viewing angles will be shit, but I doubt you’re buying a 240hz to view things from the sides lol. The Zowie had the shittiest colors, the KD25F had the best TN colors I’ve ever experienced. I bought the VG259QM after I returned the KD25F and the colors were pretty much the same, but the VG259QM had better viewing angles.

There are IPS panels with significantly better colors than TN. Some of those first gen fast IPS are closer to TN (VG25, 27...). Viewing angles on TN introduce yellow tint and color shift, even with slight up/down angle shift. This makes it feel cheap and old tech, which it is. It reminds me of before 2010 LCD era. For that reason I don't recommend it, even if it's ~1-2ms negligible faster.

Now everyone is giving me mixed responses. Some say even the newer IPS (MAG251RX etc) are still visibly slower than top of the line TNs (Omen X 25), while others say they're almost the same. Some say the colors are close enough while others say theres a significant difference.

I'm willing to trade off colors for motion clarity.

It seems to me that the three options worth considering are the Omen X25, VG259QM and MAG251RX. Regarding what I said above, what do you recommend

Hi man. If you are focused on competitive shooters and clarity is important to you, then take TH. If it is not a priority, then take ips. They say right here, a lot depends on the games you play. I believe that 2546k is the most versatile option. It has superb ergonomics, one of the best black equalizers. A bunch of settings. That said, the default basic definition is excellent. They say about his bad colors. I will say this, it can be customized. I chose cinema modes and changed the gamut and got very natural colors that I think I would not get on any ips that show colors too saturated. On the bench, you can switch between modes, and if you play CSGO, you can easily switch to a special FPS mode 1, and use something more natural for other games. The problem with this monitor is the price? I will say this, the price here is justified by the presence of a remote control, shutters and a diac. Regarding gating ... I really wanted to get a gated monitor hoping to get the CRT experience, but they are neither. The difference is huge, so I'm somewhat disappointed with strobing. In games, the diac can be useful, but it adds vertical tearing. I had more fun playing without the diac because the process was smoother, the panel itself is very clear without it. And you know what ... I would have left it and probably would not have exchanged it for any monitor if my copy had not come with a problem (stain, light). I was forced to return it and now I am waiting for Omen 25, I don’t know if I will like it. If the diac is not needed, and I will say this, 99 percent of the players do not need it, then take 2540k - it has the same panel as 2546k, absolutely identical settings and colors, ergonomics and so on. It has no diac, shutters and remote control. If you can buy it cheap, this is the best choice! I took 2540k, but my copy suffered from pixel walk, I had to return it. At 2546k, the matrix is ​​probably better tuned, because according to reviews it suffers less from the problem of pixel inversion. But the panel is the same, and most likely it's just a lottery. So the best price-quality option would be 2540k. If you are not limited in funds, then it may make sense to buy an omen x 25, but I still cannot say anything about it. I think the 2540k is the most versatile shooter monitor in every sense if you don't need strobing.

Because in my area, the return/refund policy is also shit, you need a minimum of 5 dead pixels to be able to refund a monitor, and you cannot return it if it does not have issues. That is why I am in doubt. But yes, the omen does seem to be the choice.
