How I solved my CSGO "input" lags
How I solved my CSGO "input" lags
First of all, sorry for bad English, I'm not native speaker.
I have 3.5k hours шт CSGO, was LEM, and 6lvl faceit, but year ago strange things started happening. I had 240hz monitor, decent laptop with ryzen 3700x and 2060mobile, but in one moment I started losing all fights 1v1, my friends said that something with my reaction, that I standing about half or even second while enemy peeking me. Only headshots was registered, and never cant kill enemy in body - 2 hits was registered maximum, while enemy shot 6 bullets already in my model. Cant bhop, because keyboard and mouse seems desynced.
Few month I thinking that problem in my skill, but then I gaming DM on my work (gamedev company) and I was really good, then I came home and I cant kill anything.
I decided to change my router - doesnt help. I sold my laptop, bought PC with 3080 and ryzen 5600x - doesnt help. Bought keyboard and mouse with lowest latency - doesnt help. Tried windows tweaks, NIC tweaks, BIOS tweaks, clean windows on separate SSD and so on - nothing help. I changed my ISP - some moments gameplay was better (but not best), some - really terrible and I losing with 0-16 k/d. I tried offline gaming - all OK, tried change wiring, electricity - no luck.
After all was tried, I was in depression and I dont want to play, because in year I degraded to 1lvl faceit and nova3. Yesterday I saw article about private VPN, and decided to test last time before delete this game completely. I choosed and bought VPS closest to my city, installed openvpn-as (but wireguard is ok too), configured tunnel and then... All hits registered. I killing everyone. I bhopping as s1mple (no, but I can bhop at least)
I have a MASSIVE advantage with my setup (about 500fps capped) and winning every fight 1v1 like year ago.
small UPD: my ping is not 60 as usual now, but only 30 (but I dont think that ping really matters if it sub-100)
Confirmed with 2 days testing - all "input lag" and desync problems is from your ISP that throttling private clients prior to business clients or overselling. Buying VPS is maybe cheapest way to have "business-grade" internet with some SLAs. Only con on this solution - you need to pay for VPS.
GLHF.

Re: How I solved my CSGO "input" lags
This and the Lowel post is convincing me all this input lag/desync issue most likely has to do with Internet/network. I tried the sftp cable also bought a new RJ11 Cable. after installing the new cable, my input lag/desync issues were 50% fixed right away yesterday. Even though it wasn't perfect, It felt amazing playing. All my hits were actually registering and it almost felt like I had aim assist.
Also last year I installed surf shark VPN also my issues were fixed for a day.
Other times, my hitreg and input lag issues also seemed to be affected by what I was running in the background like twitch or something else. Weirdly, having a twitch stream in the background running improved my game feel and hitreg
Even though these internet related solutions seem to work best, the issues always come back for me after a day or few hours
I'm praying for a permanent fix and gonna keep troubleshooting all these new leads.

Could you introduce step by step what you did? Some pictures, settings, configuration etc. This may be helpful for non-advanced users.

I can't imagine leaving work if I work in a place like that haha. Do you know if your company gets higher-er priority than the rest of the business class?but then I gaming DM on my work (gamedev company) and I was really good, then I came home and I cant kill anything.

PCIe NIC, sftp braided cable for outdoors, drivers etc etc - nothing helps, because I think its placebo and concequence when ISPs line is not full of traffic. Now I'm playing on onboard NIC and regular ftp cable - no problems at all.MontyTheAverage wrote: ↑13 Jul 2022, 15:39This and the Lowel post is convincing me all this input lag/desync issue most likely has to do with Internet/network. I tried
That simple, you need VPS, some of them can be configured with installed openvpn already. For installation you have official manualhttps://openvpn.net/vpn-server-resource ... ux-system/. Then install openvpn client on your PC, download config file to PC, import and thats all.a_c_r_e_a_l wrote: ↑13 Jul 2022, 15:50Could you introduce step by step what you did? Nope, we have same business class internet as other offices in building.

Still jealous.Nope, we have same business class internet as other offices in building.
In US the internet companies can do whatever they want pretty much(weird routings, randomly reduced packets consumers right doesn't exist for this sector hah), so VPN has been a real option for us for a long time. Surprising that difference is that great in the Europe I presume. Have you done tracert to the server you frequent from your home and work? I mean you are already happy that things are going great, but it could help other unbelievers.

Re: How I solved my CSGO "input" lags
i can confirm that VPN might be a solution, since its also helped me once with my cable line with gameplay. i bought a VPS and runned VPN on it, when the other public ones didnt helped anymore, but this one was not helping either.
It can be a solution, but this is mostly depending on youre ISP. on my line, it feels like that they somehow locked the routing policy.
This happened when Unitymedia (german cable provider) got bought from Vodafone. At this point, it started to not work anymore, so i assume this might be the reason. Now im on Telekom VDSL line and VPN never helpen on that one.
before, i could choose any server and immidiately had a improved gameplay. everything seemed to be fixed for 2 hours, before i got a massive packet loss from the VPN itself and had to choose a different country. they even all differ in quality, but no matter which one i took, it made the gameplay better, until i found one where the gameplay seems to be perfect.
This was mostly tested with NordVPN and Avira. i prefered Avira more, since it was a VPN on my country.

I don't understand how this differs from using standard VPN, which I already tried and had no difference or even worse.
