Viewsonic XG271QG or what?

Post by Cattiy19 » 03 Sep 2022, 10:01

I have bought a XG271QG from Amazon Warehouse for 600 €. Imho it free of failures.

I upgraded from an XG270QG and the difference between the 165hz and the 240 is clearly visible in the UFO Test and also noticable in Call of Duty Warzone, although I am far from hitting 240 fps.
Everything feels just smoother.

The XG270QG is not even 2 years old and costed nearly 900 €. So I feel a little buyers regret  Normally I keep my monitors for a long, long time.

I wonder if it is worth to upgrade to an even better monitor, to be more future proof?

What are my options for a 1440p IPS monitor right now?

All the latest "Fast" 240Hz 1440p IPS-type models currently use the same/similar AUO panel to my knowledge, so if you already have the XG271QG, you're basically set where "greatest-and-latest" 240Hz 1440p IPS specs are concerned.

For native G-SYNC, there's your model, and one from Acer and ASUS, and for G-SYNC Compatible FreeSync there's a few more, but again, the performance and feature set between them is virtually a wash because they all use the same/similar panel.

There is the upcoming "PG27AQN" from ASUS, which is a 360Hz 1440p "Ultra Fast" IPS-type monitor, but there's no concrete release date or price point, and like all 1st gen panel technology, it could take two steps back and only one step forward on things like overdrive performance (it's a lot harder for LCD GtG to keep up with 360Hz compared to 240Hz), so it's a wait and see.
