If I understand this correctly, the XL2420Z does hold a benefit over the RL2455HM with a 30fps@60hz game with the option to turn on synchronized backlight strobing causing an identical image effect during motion but the trade-off being it eliminates LCD motion blur?
You will get a similar effect to a CRT, whether it's 30fps@60Hz (double-image) or 60fps@60Hz (ultraclear motion).
Also, around here on Blur Busters, elimination of LCD motion blur is generally considered a benefit rather than a trade-off.

Sorry, let's re-word that: "the XL2420Z does hold a benefit over the RL2455HM with a 30fps@60hz game with the option to turn on synchronized backlight strobing that eliminates LCD motion blur with the trade-off of causing an identical image effect during motion?"
I know it is of personal preference but has anyone here dabbled in both that could share their experiences?

All impulse-driven displays (e.g. 60Hz CRT, 60Hz plasma, or 60Hz strobe backlight) all exhibit the same kind of double-image effect during 30fps @ 60Hz. Long-time users of impulse-driven displays have observed as such.
I have read many posts, in various different Internet forums, over the years that some didn't mind, while some were bothered by it.

Hi,
Im using the benq gl 2450 with my xbox one and the motion blur is pretty bad(in both games and regular use).My eyes begin to water after playing some fifa 15.So i began to do some research on other monitors and found that rl2455hm is pretty good at reducing motion blur(screenshots here:
http://www.displaylag.com/benq-rl2455hm ... or-review/) and can be better than my current monitor which is a pain on the eyes.In the link above it says that "AMA" does help in reducing motion blur considerably.
But however reading chief blur busters response i'm now thinking if the rl2455hm is gonna make a difference at all when it comes to motion blur.I do not want to spend my money on rl2455hm and realise that it makes absolutey no difference when it comes to motion blur. Please help me make a decision(Im either gonna buy a rl2455hm or no monitor at all cause xl 2420z is too expensive).
