Why are there no other 360hz TN panels?

Why are there no other 360hz TN panels?

Post by babooz99 » 24 Jul 2023, 02:59

How are companies just letting zowie just dominate the 360hz TN panel market for so long? They don't even have to have a strobing equal to dyac (lots of pros play without dyac). Give me a mediocre strobing but good non-dyac performance 360hz TN at a cheaper price than $650 cuz that price from benq is ridiculous. Just the fastest & clearest monitor that gives the most competitive edge for the cheapest price. That's basically what a lot of the csgo/valorant players are looking for.

They're just monopolizing the shit out of it and marking up the price. Where's the freaking competition?

The XL2566K uses an AUO panel (M250HTN01.J).

AUO owns Qisda, Qisda owns Benq, Zowie is a Benq subsidiary company.

Zowie is most likely on an exclusive deal with AUO, which I guess was the solution to stay relevant especially now that they are losing a huge chunk of market share in mouse sales.

Without a 360hz TN panel (and arguably, an overvolted backlight), most people would just choose the cheapest 360hz TN that they could get their hands on and Zowie would probably be the last choice due to their underwhelming pricing.

Because TN has too many drawbacks in picture quality and OLEDs make them essentially obsolete.

It seems to me that Zowie's TN panel does not offer much advantage in competitive games. Yes, it has slightly lower blur than IPS, but is it noticeable and does it affect your aim? I think no.
I would rather buy IPS 360 or 390 hertz with better color reproduction than Zowie's overpriced.

I ask myself the same question to be honest. I don't think there's anything wrong with TN panels. I've been using one for over a decade. The colour on them is fine, but Zowie just seems to make the colours horrible on their displays which is a dealbreaker for me. So many high refresh rate monitors sacrifice colour for motion clarity, but at this point it should be possible to do both, much like how the PG27AQN did it (though the PG27AQN is of course IPS)

I guess IPS is being chosen more-so because it has better colours and is in more demand, also being a newer technology and that many gamers shun TN for 'bad colours' despite the fact that IPS can also have bad colours. Just depends on the manfufacturer's approach.

Stop with the nonsense. It's not because oled makes them "obsolete". Tn is still king for pure competitive gaming advantage.

TN leads in marketing. Yes, it's slightly less blurry, but it does not give an advantage in competitive games, especially slow ones like csgo.
It's all marketing.
I saw with my own eyes ips 390hz and tn 360hz. In a real game there is no difference, it must be viewed under a microscope.
IPS provides a low enough level of blur to comfortably play and win in any games.
I see no reason to consider TN in 2023, this is an outdated technology with terrible color reproduction and viewing angles.
