Consistent spikes in polling rate? Can't figure it out

Post by Leot » 03 Oct 2023, 13:47

In mouse tester I've had these consistent spikes in polling rate (around every 400ms) for a long time, but I haven't been able to figure out what causes it. Maybe I'm overthinking and it's just Windows being Windows? I was just wondering if anyone else has seen this behavior in MouseTester. I tried moving my keyboard to different USB controller and even tested while the only usb device connected was my mouse. Made no difference.

Windows 10 64bit
i7 10700k (haven't messed with OCing)
z490 Meg Unify motherboard (updated BIOS, XHCI handoff and Legacy usb Disabled)
RTX 3080
32GB 3600MHz RAM with XMP enabled
Logitech G305 mouse
C-states disabled
HAGS disabled
High performance power plan with USB selective suspend disabled
Mouse plugged into back USB 2.0 port (tried other ports; made no difference)

Here are 3 separate runs in MouseTester:

i have the same thing. Basically, it can be your GPU. Try to disable it and retest.
edit: you dont change bcdedit?
affinity / msi v3 tool screen
clear OS after install have same?
try to install second boot ggos 0.9.4 and test on it (best for test mouse).
that spikes can cause by cpu (affected on csrss /dwm), or worse gpu driver.
