Finally this monitor is coming out. 900 dollars is too damn much though goddamn

Let's hope other companies quickly get rights to the panel and release their own versions.

The Acer XV248F which uses the exact same panel as the Asus is also on the way, it won't have GSync meaning cheaper price. Definitely looking forward to this one, I assume it will be in the 600$ range. Paying 900$ for the Asus just for ULMB 2.0 and RGBs on the back of the monitor is kinda crazy yes.

Claims ULMB2 does not darken the screen on the PG248QP 540HZ ( unlike the PG27AQN) plus u can make custom resoltion on 500hz ( not 540hz) Sounds pretty good if the screen really stays bright. Then I am prob. gonna buy it.

I asked the guy in Chinese ( with google translator)

1. 在屏幕亮度为100%的情况下启动ULMB 2时,屏幕是否会变暗?
2. 可以在NVIDIA控制面板中创建自定义分辨率吗?

He answered:

540hz就不能创建自定义,500HZ就能,启动ULMB 2 不会变暗

"In English:

"1. When launching ULMB 2 with the screen brightness at 100%, will the screen dim?
2. Can a custom resolution be created in the NVIDIA Control Panel
? "

He answered:
"You can’t create customizations at 540hz, but you can at 500hz, and it won’t dim when you start ULMB 2."

It must have a very beefy backlight (lots of underdriven LEDs? or heatsinking?)
Sounds plausible for $900

Did u see Optimum's video? He measured 446 nits for ULMB 2 OFF and 347 nits for ON (pulse width 100 I assume). XL2566K is 365 nits with DyAc+ OFF, 330 DyAc+ High and 277 Premium. If measurements are correct that's all the information u needed. Do have in mind brightness perception is not linear but logarithmic. Difference between 350 and 250 is much smaller than 150 and 50 nits (example).

And according to PG248QP user manual these are the available refresh rates for ULMB 2:
"NVIDIA ULMB 2 (Ultra Low Motion Blur)/ULMB 2 Pulse Width (only for DisplayPort input): Adjusts the level of motion blur reduction. This function is available when the refresh rate is 360Hz, 480Hz, 500Hz or 540Hz."
I really hope 360Hz is not minimum.

I have seen Optimums video and the schedule he made. What I found disappointing is that the PG27AQN stats with ULMB2 enabled are not displayed for some reason. I searched on https://www.rtings.com/monitor/reviews/ ... hz-pg27aqn and found this under the Backlight Strobing (BFI) section of the PG27AQN :

Longest Pulse Width Brightness
266 cd/m²
Shortest Pulse Width Brightness
24 cd/m²

In comparioson the XL2566K stats: https://www.rtings.com/monitor/reviews/ ... ie-xl2566k

Under the Backlight Strobing (BFI) section:

Longest Pulse Width Brightness
282 cd/m²
Shortest Pulse Width Brightness
286 cd/m²

If iI understand this data correctly It shows that the XL2566K is brighter then the PG27AQN both with Backlight Strobing enabled.

On the Zowie XL2566K and XL2456K I did not noticed any difference in the brightness with Dyac on or off. Maybe TN technology also plays a role in processing the nits in a matter that its less sensitive visually displaying differences in nits? ( I understand the difference is only like ~12% but still its not noticeable at all)

On the PG27AQN it was extremely darker With ULMB2 on then off and ALSO extremely darker than a Zowie with DYAC on. ( I put them both together) So that would mean ULMB2 almost cuts the nits in half on the PG27AQN! Maybe that's why Optimum "accidentally" not posted the PG27AQN ULMB2 nits stats in the schedule in his video?

Tnx for letting me know about the manual! Going to check it out!

He mentioned AQN ULMB 2 is 275 nits at the end of video. 492 without.

U didn't notice probably because the difference between 365 (DyAc OFF) and 330 nits (DyAc High) is perceptually very tiny. And AQN is brighter to begin with. So yeah 492 vs 275 is somewhat larger difference than 365 vs 330. Perceptually it's maybe -10% on AQN and -1% on 66K. Try placing numbers in the example chart to see what I mean. I assume u maxed out the brightness without strobing in both cases, or who knows maybe u compare different settings.

Here is a random chart showing theoretically estimated persistence and brightness:

Tnx for the links! Thats a other video then the 540hz video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nqa7QVwfu7s. I still find it weird that Optimum did not put the AQN ULMB2 stats in the schedule of the 540z video. I cannot confidently say he probably made a mistake.
I understand the nitcontrast on the AQN between 492 and 275 is high and stands out. But that was not the ONLY reason the Zowies 282 brightness was perceived as brighter with DYAC on (and why the Zowies brightness is perceived the same with DYAC on or off. )
I have put the AQN and Zowie monitor next to each other and the Zowie was way brighter. It stood out. I think TN plays a role in this. I hope so cause then the PG248QP TN 540hz will be brighter with its 347 nits with ULMB2 on then the Zowie TN with its 282 nits with DYAC enabled !

Idk about that. I'd rather stick to measured nits.
