BenQ XL 2420Z Question

Post by TJD » 10 Sep 2014, 08:00

Hi guys, I found this forum (great find) when researching the BenQ XL 2420Z which I am seriously considering to get to play mainly BF4 MP. This will be my first 144hz monitor (current monitor is 60hz) and researching if this monitor would work for me on my system. I have a AMD Tri X 290 oc to 1125/1450 and when playing BF4 I get dips to around 85FPS at times, but most of the time I'm around 105-120fps. I am not sure if I have to maintain min 100fps/100Hz, 120fps/120hz or not.

So question is, will this monitor run/work properly when I have those dips around 85fps or will I experience problems and or stuttering with the BenQ at 100fps/100hz or 120fps/120hz?

Thanks

All 120Hz+ monitors work properly at low framerates. They also double as fast-responding low-latency 60Hz monitors too, as well.

What happens is that you don't get "all the benefits" when you're running at less than 120fps. Playing 60fps@60Hz on a 120Hz TN monitor looks no worse than playing on a 60Hz TN gaming monitor -- you're just not fully benefitting from the 120Hz.

Since you're able to get 100fps from at least ONE of your games, you WILL get benefit from that game. :)
