ACER Predator XB273U F6 Gaming Monitor:
Extreme 1000 Hz Speed for Dominating the Competition
The 27-inch Predator XB273U F6 monitor features a lightning-fast 500 Hz refresh rate and is ideal for high-level esports, as gamers can use its Dynamic Frequency and Resolution (DFR) mode to reach an astonishing 1000 Hz at 1280 x 720 resolution for unmatched smoothness and precision. Every frame is rendered with incredible clarity with no perceivable motion blur or ghosting during even the fastest on-screen action.
"The Predator XB273U F6 represents the next frontier in gaming displays," said Charles Wang, Senior Manager, Product Management, Digital Displays at Acer. "With its 500 Hz refresh rate, advanced IPS technology, and 1000 Hz dynamic mode, it delivers both speed and visual fidelity that redefine what competitive gamers can expect from a monitor."
At its core is a 2560 x 1440 QHD IPS panel that blends sharp resolution with remarkable color fidelity. It also comes out of the box calibrated to cover 95% of the DCI-P3 and 99% of the sRGB color gamut, producing rich, lifelike hues that bring every game world to life. With a 2,000:1 native contrast ratio and 350 nit brightness, gamers can expect deep blacks, bright highlights, and consistent image quality across its wide 178-degree viewing angles.

I have some instructions at www.blurbusters.com/testufo3 for reviewers who are trying to optimize for 1000Hz.

It can be a big challenge.

First reviews are up:
Philips Evnia 27M2N5500XD (27" QHD@540Hz → HD@1000 Hz IPS LCD)
Yup, first 1000Hz IPS LCD ufos are here and they look like crap as expected! I'm having flashbacks to 2020-21 when first 360Hz panels were quite incompliant, but exciting. Except it's worse this time. Response times are even larger proportion of a frame. Motion clarity won't be a true representation of 1000Hz, but at least motion blurrity/smoothness will be nicer, a bit delayed/smeared tho. OLED FTW :!:

Reviewers didn't specify what ufo speeds they used and footage is not the best quality, so I'm having hard time figuring out what is really going on with some of these. Also I'm questioning if testufo synced up correctly or if there was any frame skipping involved. We could use a better footage.

27M2N5500XD IPS at 720p 1000Hz fps, overdrive OFF/Fast/Faster/Fastest, probably 960 px/sec target (indicated by sync track spacing)

LEFT 27GX790B OLED at 720p 720Hz, RIGHT 27M2N5500XD IPS at 720p 1000Hz with overdrive Fast, probably 960 px/sec target (indicated by sync track spacing), LEFT is also how 1000Hz OLED would look like

There is more footage of 1000/540Hz strobing, but I think they messed up the titles/speeds/overdrive/mbr settings. Things are not lining up.

1000Hz is unnecessary these days. No processor can support more than 700 FPS in CS2, for example. On my 9800x3D with a frequency of 5.6 GHz, FPS fluctuates between 500 and 900 depending on the card and graphics settings. In the best case, I get an average of 650 FPS. Therefore, 720Hz OLEDs are the best solution if you want the maximum frequency. But who will play in 720p? It's terrible visuals. Besides, these 720Hz OLEDs cost from $1,500; you're better off buying a 500Hz OLED for $600.

Find more optimized games. Higher refresh rate is always necessary, regardless of era. :)
I can tell you that there are >350 / 10k games (made between 2000–2026) which are +500FPS, of which there is quite a decent chunk which can run >1k FPS as well.
Hardware is orders of magnitudes faster than it was... software is sadly the biggest bottleneck.

I do agree that OLEDs are a better choice, however.
Not the current models, but the next generation RGB stripe models.
Potentially a upcoming 500Hz → 1000Hz dual mode OLED.

Multiple manufacturers have indicated they want 2000 Hz.

My prediction is ETA 2030.

Hopefully it's OLED, obviously.

BTW, new techless video is a great primer of the 5-figure ballpark of retina refresh rate, agreeing with my estimates.

Yes, GPU power is indeed a showstopper, but it's also useful to know in the interim:

1. Higher Hz lowers the lag of your low frame rates. 200fps at 1000Hz is lower lag than 200fps at 240Hz.
2. If you use VRR, you should have a MaxHz above your maximum framerate so you don't need to cap.
3. You can use the brute headroom with open source motion-blur-reduction shaders such as CRT simulator (etc).

It's actually technically possible to write a VRR-CRT shader (e.g. software-based equivalent of GSYNC Pulsar), but it needs about 3:1 or more MaxHz, e.g. 2000 Hz would allow a software VRR-CRT shader of ~40 simHz - 700 simHz simulated VRR range, in simulated CRT Hz.

More Info: www.blurbusters.com/open-source-display

1000 Hz isn't the final frontier...

1000Hz IPS at ~960 and ~1920 px/sec speeds.

Eye tracking at high speeds isn’t amazing on these LCDs. This is also a good example of how higher speeds accentuate GtG issues better than lower speeds - a message to reviewers.

I have been nudging reviewers to use 1920 pixels/sec at www.testufo.com/ghosting
It's the new default motion speed.

Many reviewers are slowly switching over, though I wish more would use UFO Deluxe, because more reviewers need to cite "TestUFO" not just "UFO". TestUFO is our trademark and I need reviewers to give TestUFO credit.

Still, many recognize it as TestUFO, but I wish more reviewers would properly cite/credit Blur Busters properly.

Also, shutter speeds are getting too brief at 1000Hz, that's why my sync track now supports 10-tickmark modes! Shutter speed can be slower if they use 5-tickmark or 6-tickmark pursuit camera modes. It can avoid short-exposure problems (photos too dark and noisy), as human vision settings are more similar to a slower camera shutter, when configuring pursuit camera settings to emulate the slowness of a human vision.
