A little bit more hardware-related question: I was cleaning the back buttons, and unwisely decided to first blow off dust and other smallish particles of them, while the monitor was still on, with a balloon air blower that I use for case and components

and at one point I heard small creaking noise from around the buttons. Now I am worried I may have pushed some small particle inside, which caused an electric short. There was no black screen or visual artifacts since, but I am afraid the VRR/GSync and Pulsar capabilities may have been compromised in some manner.

Is anyone knowledgeable about the design of the monitor, to know whether such a thing is possible, or whether the buttons are sufficiently snuggly fitted into the backplate to prevent such thing?

Wouldn't it be possible for them to offer a global flash mode for 240 hz - 360 hz in that 24 - 25" mode and tune it such that the crosstalk is towards the top and bottom of the screen where the black bars is so they don't have to compromise using the rolling scan? Or would the crosstalk still be an issue you guys think?

Pulsar works with 240 Hz and 360 Hz. Of course its VRR so it works with all kinds of refresh rates inbetween but the global refresh rate must be either 240 Hz or 360 Hz.
I just described "my" method to unlock custom resolutions and super sampling and to get rid of any black screen issues by disabling display tiling. This leads automatically to a maximum refresh rate of 240 Hz as these older cards cannot process a 360 hz signal without tiling the screen.
With custom resolution you can add 300 Hz, which still works with gsync. But not with pulsar. I hope Nvidia will add a 300 Hz pulsar mode. That would be the perfect solution for me as an rtx40 user.

I have not tried any other external tools to add refresh rates or custom resolution to the nvcp. If that works without disabling tiling, that is nice. I doubt it will get rid of the black screens with alt-tabbing in Fullscreen exclusive games.

I have prepared two videos which show this issue with tiling enabled (360 Hz - but this is the same with 240 Hz as well when tiling is enabled) vs. tiling disabled 240 Hz:

If you are into retro gaming and start multiple games throughout an evening, play around with settings etc. and you see these black screens each time. Its frustrating.
Yes, borderless windowed works much better. And it seems with "Control Panel --> Manage 3D Settings --> Power Management Mode, set to Prefer Maximum Performance" 360 Hz is working without ingame black screens.

But for me its not an option. I am running my monitor with tiling disabled since weeks now with 240 Hz. CS2 works like a charm, so do all the other games since fw 1.1.6. If they reduce the 240 Hz latency (which i do not feel at the moment) even more on fw 1.1.7 as stated, then even better.

I like how there still isn't a mention of 240Hz / 360Hz ULMB2 behavior being "broken" (inferior to their predecessor model)
Can someone write about this on their forums? Though, I assume they've seen my nagging at least once.

with ulmb2 at 240hz on both pulsar and pg27aqn, the pg27aqn looks sharper, the pulsar has a slight blur, HAZE, LIKE I HAVE MYOPIA and the pulsar doesnt fix it i was thinking maybe screen coating, or that this implementation is worse than pg27aqn

pg27aqn at 1920 pixels/sec looks clearer than asus pulsar at 1440 pixels/s at both 240hz ulmb2

*even on 360hz both ulmb2, pg27aqn looks 33% clearer (as in pixel speed needed to match clarity)

Its probably because its a lower duty cycle, Pulsar and ULMB2 at 240/360hz is 25%. Only the 60hz mode goes lower currently, followed by 120hz in the next firmware update.

I think they mentioned on the Nvidia forum that it introduced crosstalk going lower at the higher refresh rates at the top and bottom of the screen. I'm guessing the pg27aqn is the same?

so what is going on? they just dont want to make it clearer, they dont want to nerf max brightness? its bizarre

Maybe worth requesting it on their forum and tell them about your experience on the other monitors.

I asked for the 120hz mode with the clarity of the 60hz and they are going to implement it.

ULMB2 at 240/360hz is 25%

It's actually worse than 25% when going up to higher refresh rate, which is hillarious since the XG27AQNGV & other Pulsar-capable models have a 1600-1800cd/m² voltage boosted amplitude.
That's DyAc+ levels of strength, which would allow them to target 10% duty at 160–180 cd/m²
This would mean, it would be possible to hit 0,416667 ms (2400 Hz effective motion clarity) or 0,27778 ms (3600 Hz effective motion clarity) pulse on interval
The PG27AQN can do =<10% IIRC, it can even do 2.5% (at unusable brightness values)
The biggest issue of it is the low amplitude (leading to lower brightness) and the KSF part.

Rolling scan isn't the solution, it's simply a different way to approach strobing. It's the "eye-friendlier" alternative to typical global flash.
Solving crosstalk requires faster-than-refreshtime G2G RT's.
As for why they don't want to make it clearer — it's the case of Nvidia's typical afterthought "design".
The fact ULMB2 & Pulsar are a single toggle, instead of a separate setting with adjustable PW, makes this a believable theory for me
Generally, when discussing backlight strobing implementations, vendors usually choose brightness over effective motion clarity due to their voltage boosting being insufficient.
DyAc, the M27P6S and these Pulsar panels don't have this limitation, which is why I find ULMB2 even more disappointing on these models.
That, the lack of HDMI 2.1 & the price tag are what kills these Pulsar models for me.

Oh well, let's hope the 24" QHD 360Hz BenQ with DyAc3 comes out soon
