reason is grounding.
cat8 is sftp?
if that black sftp cable that is it.
you connect pc ground and lan provider (or router) ground. You can remove ground contact from cable and and you won't see any difference.
Cat8 sftp cause + 8% THD for my setup (i think bad router psu cause that).
better variant use sftp to router. From router to pc use standard unground lan cat5e.

after + 8 years of suffering in online games no matter what I do , I finally discovered the reason behined all this lag at my end. despite having FTTH connection in my home , all decent equipment and setup with everything wired , the lag is unbearable as nightmare, after coming accross your point above, I changed my So called cat8 ethernet cables all to UTP cat 6 with plastic housing at the terminals to avoid electrical leakage on the ports at all ends , and WOW ! I became at the top 3 in every lobby in CoD MW3 and BO6 I joined . it became clear to me that my house is having some electrical grounding issues which extended the effects to all my devices .. further more I changed my gold plated HDMI cable to a new one with HDPE housing at the both terminals as well to avoid electric conductivity at both ends , next I will change my USB cables as well to PVC housings one to minimize such current leackage to the max I can.

My cost hundreds of €, Is the best shielded lan cable on the earth, true is that you cant even buy it, its for sepcial companies which they use it for very sensitive devices in interference area.

if you have no grounding / or the grounding is floating, the metal connector is connected to the PC / router - Your cable will turn into an antenna for interference. Just take the most ordinary LAN cable and check.

It is grounded on PC site into -> IO shield by metal RJ45 connector. If you connect grounding on router site you will get ground loop which is even worse.
We have problems even on WiFi connections.
We already tested Fiber cable connection from modem -> PC. [fiber cables didnt carry interference or isnt affected to it]
I just want tell other sides, cables cost money but 99,9% have 0 effect on our problem
Even Fiber HDMI we tested.
Shielded HiFi cables from socket to -> PC , MONITOR. 0 effect
