Re: DPC latency issue
Quick update:
This is the latencymon test but without an AMD gpu driver. It behaves almost perfect, I mean, how it should while nothing is working at least. Now, I'm thinking that this is either AMD's fault or a hardware issue. But I've never had any issues with my GPU, so.. There are a few things I will test.. One of them is Amernime drivers and the other one is a clean driver but debloated with Radeon Slimmer..

Re: DPC latency issue
Are you testing DPC latency at the desktop when the pc is idling?
If you are, then unfortunately that's useless. Of course your gpu driver is going to behave that way under no load. It's idling.
See how the driver behaves while running furmark in a small window. It's going to be fine.
Re: DPC latency issue
by no gpu driver what do you mean? i use ddu to remove my amd driver, and yet after restarting pc, windows automaticity downloads and install amd gpu driver to the latest version, but there is no control panel, after i go to the vc reg key, there are no many options,so i use ddu again, and i install the latest version with radeonsoftwareslimmer, only selecting 2 things.dsavovic25 wrote: ↑29 Jun 2025, 07:01Quick update:

no problem big man.dsavovic25 wrote: ↑29 Jun 2025, 06:55Thanks for the script.JimCarry wrote: ↑28 Jun 2025, 19:35You dont need powersettings explorer,i made these scripts long time ago,i used to use them to disable idle before going into cs2, and then enable idle when i am done, but now i dont disable idle because i have stock cooler, but if op wants to use it.you just make 2 bats files, and put in the first two in one bat and the other two in second bat.
powercfg.exe /setacvalueindex SCHEME_CURRENT SUB_PROCESSOR IdleDisable 0
powercfg.exe /setactive SCHEME_CURRENT
powercfg.exe /setacvalueindex SCHEME_CURRENT SUB_PROCESSOR IdleDisable 1
powercfg.exe /setactive SCHEME_CURRENT

Well that is one of the Atlas OS features, they provide a script for preventing windows from installing driver automatically through windows update.JimCarry wrote: ↑29 Jun 2025, 09:24by no gpu driver what do you mean? i use ddu to remove my amd driver, and yet after restarting pc, windows automaticity downloads and install amd gpu driver to the latest version, but there is no control panel, after i go to the vc reg key, there are no many options,so i use ddu again, and i install the latest version with radeonsoftwareslimmer, only selecting 2 things.dsavovic25 wrote: ↑29 Jun 2025, 07:01Quick update:

Re: DPC latency issue
All of the tests I've done are when pc is idling, that is where I usually get a lot of ntoskrnl.exe spikes after a few minutes on a clean reboot.. I think I've mentioned that in the first post. I believe there shouldn't be any DPC or ISR latencies if my system is idling, every component is fine and communicating well with the drivers, correct?daemonjax wrote: ↑29 Jun 2025, 08:52Are you testing DPC latency at the desktop when the pc is idling?

i can do the same in win 10 but,i dont get it so you are using the vc without driver ? how do you play games ? what driver does it have ?dsavovic25 wrote: ↑29 Jun 2025, 09:52Well that is one of the Atlas OS features, they provide a script for preventing windows from installing driver automatically through windows update.JimCarry wrote: ↑29 Jun 2025, 09:24by no gpu driver what do you mean? i use ddu to remove my amd driver, and yet after restarting pc, windows automaticity downloads and install amd gpu driver to the latest version, but there is no control panel, after i go to the vc reg key, there are no many options,so i use ddu again, and i install the latest version with radeonsoftwareslimmer, only selecting 2 things.dsavovic25 wrote: ↑29 Jun 2025, 07:01Quick update:

Re: DPC latency issue
I'm not using my GPU without a driver, it just happens that I've tried latencymon test after removing the driver, which resulted 0 ntoskrnl.exe spikes. You know, when let's say, you are trying to fix a broken pc, you start by removing one component by one, that is exactly what I'm doing now, just by removing one single driver and repeating the tests so I can diagnose the problem easier. I hope I was clear here.JimCarry wrote: ↑29 Jun 2025, 10:06i can do the same in win 10 but,i dont get it so you are using the vc without driver ? how do you play games ? what driver does it have ?dsavovic25 wrote: ↑29 Jun 2025, 09:52Well that is one of the Atlas OS features, they provide a script for preventing windows from installing driver automatically through windows update.JimCarry wrote: ↑29 Jun 2025, 09:24by no gpu driver what do you mean? i use ddu to remove my amd driver, and yet after restarting pc, windows automaticity downloads and install amd gpu driver to the latest version, but there is no control panel, after i go to the vc reg key, there are no many options,so i use ddu again, and i install the latest version with radeonsoftwareslimmer, only selecting 2 things.dsavovic25 wrote: ↑29 Jun 2025, 07:01Quick update:

now i got you,i have rx 580 and i am using the latest driver via radeonsoftwareslimmer to install it and then i use radeonmod.maybe do test with this two.dsavovic25 wrote: ↑29 Jun 2025, 10:16I'm not using my GPU without a driver, it just happens that I've tried latencymon test after removing the driver, which resulted 0 ntoskrnl.exe spikes. Re: DPC latency issue
Damn! I just discovered this recently — something is wrong with the AM5 platform. When I use an external sound card, the game becomes noticeably less responsive and additional input/display delay occurs.
Let’s go into the details.
All sound effects have been disabled. External sound cards from Astro and Creative introduce noticeable latency — enemies visibly appear on screen with a delay. The game runs most smoothly and responsively when using the internal sound card, but only with drivers provided by the motherboard manufacturer. Drivers downloaded directly from the Realtek website (newer) also introduce some delay, though not as much as external sound cards. It’s driving me crazy — you can’t enjoy better sound quality because of the massive delay it causes on the monitor.
I tried multiple USB ports — no fix.
I disabled the internal sound card in the BIOS while using the external one — no fix.
I set interrupt affinity (1 core and 1 thread, since Hyper-Threading is enabled) to the USB controller connected to the external sound card — no fix.
I also tested with drivers from the manufacturers' websites as well as the default Windows drivers — no fix.
I keep bios up to date and had many versions so far - still no fix.
Different motherboards didn't fix the issue, I tested Asrock B650E Taichi Lite and X870 Tomahawk.
Does anyone know how to solve this?
