Input delay, Hitreg, Desync - Where to fix them

Everything about latency. This section is mainly user/consumer discussion. (Peer-reviewed scientific discussion should go in Laboratory section). Tips, mouse lag, display lag, game engine lag, network lag, whole input lag chain, VSYNC OFF vs VSYNC ON, and more! Input Lag Articles on Blur Busters.

One thing you didn't touch on is core/cpu time contention. Pretty much process bloat. Windows 11 has so much bloat. The more a game has to compete for cpu time, the more context switching occurs. If there's less competition, then there is less l2/l1 recaching the game has to deal with due to context switching. You can use process explorer and see the context switching amount of any given service/process.

Screenshot 2026-07-28 210421.png

"CSwitch delta" is the amount that's occuring at that moment in time. "Context Switches" is the total that has occured since that process has been running. "Cycles Delta" is the amount of CPU Time the process has just finished utilizing.

One tool i like to use to reduce the bloat is winhance. there's a lot of tools like it but winhance stands out because it actually reads your current settings and shows you what it changes.

Also things adding to the latency pipeline. Overlays for example and virtualization like core isolation. Also bitlocker, some people might not even be aware bitlocker is enabled on the OS drive if they bought a prebuilt. These things also add to latency.
You have to realize that some people don't know anything about IT. They just buy a PC, install CS2, and play without having any issues. How do you explain that?

When I was ignorant to latency issues, I played games blissfully unaware. And that's where the majority of people are, ignorant to the problem. Just because you're unaware of the issue doesn't mean it doesn't exist. And I don't believe in the EMI problem. If there is any type of EMI, it's most likely a ground loop issue. I live right next to high-voltage transmission lines that carry power through the state and don't have latency issues.

Floaty mouse movement is caused by EMI or RFI, which is a proven fact, + I don't understand how this topic was created without a solution attached to it.
True, They don't realize that if they try it at another house and everything works perfectly, they'll see that it wasn't the BIOS, the mouse, or anything else.
There are so many things that are varible each boot. Whats the exact problem you have and whats your full spec?
The mouse feels heavy (not 1:1, it feels like moving through mud), and the hit registration is bad... but then, sometimes, whether it's during the day or at night, everything feels perfect. That's why I don't think it can be my hardware—if it were, it would happen all the time. All of my PC components are new.

Just use christitus utility and remove bloatware such as bitlocker. Thats more than enough, unless your main use case is gaming where you can go with AME playbooks but it compromises security ( i personally use it and see a very good margin gains on fps and 1% but use at your own risk ). Other than that remeber modern cpu are way more capable of handling it but ame playbooks will debloat deep. For softwares of periphericals ( than their services its their buggy apps that create problem ), i set them and unisntall or you can just go to system conf disable its service and only enable when you need to use it.

I can relate that the game feels absolutely better on 60hz and the best at 75hz. Anything above that is absolute sh1t.
Please describe your problem with a little more context and post your specs. It will help others relate and give me enough context to help you. I know half the users here don't explain things fully because they're tired of being told to 'get good' by people who won't listen or understand. Ive been there

DM: 1% lows average 450–500 FPS. My frametime stays between 2.5 and 3.5 ms. I always have 0 jitter and 0 packet loss, but I can still feel something is off with my mouse. It doesn't feel crisp, even on the Windows desktop(accel off ofc...:D)

How about i take a look when i am free ( maybe this weekend ) and probably a reset so it gets to default before we optimise further.

Also, 0 jitter isnt techincally possible though but anything below half tick of your game server is considerent great.

I've tried christitus's tool and many others like it. Winhance does it correctly, it shows what changes will be made, reads current states, and also shows you what's recommended and what's the default to revert to if needed. AME is overkill and not needed. It looks promising but you can achieve the same without going that deep. I've fixed my latency without going that far. Modern cpus "are" capable. But the question is at what point is it still capable and not have a latency penalty. If you want low latency, you want the bare minimum apps/services running. If i have apps/services open that cause too much I/O overhead, it will hurt latency, because I/O overhead = core contention. Core contention is the main source of latency issues. Just using windows 10 that doesn't have the windows 11 bloat would be enough to solve most peoples latency problems, I use windows 11 by the way.

I added a few notes about the latency reported by NVIDIA FrameView PCL, as well as the monitor and mouse latency. Other than that, I honestly have no idea what the cause could be.

Everything seems to point to either my internet connection or the electrical system. On the first floor, where my bedroom is, the wall outlets have ground wires installed. However, when I checked with a multimeter between live and ground, I got 0V. So it looks like the grounding for the upper floor and the electrical panel still needs to be properly connected.

What surprises me is that even when I move the PC to the ground floor, where the outlets do have a working ground (I verified 227V between live and ground with the multimeter), the problem still persists. The mouse still feels off, and the bad hit registration continues.

Its not electricity :)
