i just bought a cheap pg248qp, yeah, it is not as great as i remembered it, and why i kept the xl2586x instead, lol. but for $340 USD, i couldnt not buy it xD
Is the KSF red glow and crosstalk on your PG248QP noticeable? I previously had a PG248QP, and after enabling ULMB2 at 360Hz, the motion clarity was extremely impressive. However, the crosstalk and KSF red glow were too obvious, so I eventually sold it.

no, i only noticed it scrolling a dark webpage with white text really fast, and looked orange tint, other then that, nope, nothing like pg27aqn
but the monitor has noticeable flaws, not as bright as zowies, horrible base stand, limited OSD like pg27aqn, no sharpness vivid pixel etc
if you didnt know, some asus strix stands are interchangeable, im sure the dual mode 4k 485hz asus stand will fit on my pg27aqn, i will try it out later and post it, even the pg248qp stand fits on pg27aqn, i think i mainly sold it, because A) i needed money, and B) in reality the backlight strobing between all the top monitors in game, is similar, the ufo test exacerbates the crosstalk, that you dont really notice in games, except say kovaaks you can notice it, plus zowie strobing can work at 100hz-540hz, custom refresh rates and has a good sharpness slider

I had this red glow on my 600hz tn until i disabled the black boost / lowered to 0 (minimum), the effect disappeared instantly.

I don't like black boost it's like taking an OLED monitor and applying a IPS filter to it.
Speaking of which I received my Asus PG27AQN.
Testing the motion clarity it seems to be sharp UFO even at the highest speeds I can smoothly track ( 4000pps). And that's at good brightness too ( above 50%). I would have expected good motion clarity only up to half of that, but there we have it. There is some noticable frozen trail which doesn't nearly decay like a CRT but it's not a big deal in game.
So verses my 500hz MSI QD OLED
+ no perceivable increase in display lag, which really surprised me. - edit - now I have had the chance to flip between the 2 monitors, there is a slight increase in display lag. The OLED definitely wins on this, but the difference isn't a deal breaker.
- far worse black level
+ Less dark grey to black crush
+ Far better motion clarity - edit - I think people won't notice this as much if their vision isn't as sharp as I don't notice the difference as much if I don't have my glasses on. I.e a bit of blur doesn't matter if
- no static display elements concerns
- Everything does indeed pop less due to the lower contrast ratio
- I miss the AI colour changing cross hair
I have played with it for a few hours now and played well. edit - played several hours more, flipping between the two, and my preference is a toss of a coin at the moment.
Feelings are mixed because the OLED does look better with a static image, most pronounced with a black desktop background !
The biggest objective change for the better is I now feel like playing full screen again instead of in a 4 to 3 window. The far greater motion clarity than even 500hz ( and 500fps ) sample and hold blur OLED means my eyes don't feel like they are hunting for focus everytime I pan, or like everything pops out of visibility for a moment even if the blur is only say 2 to 8 pixels on the OLED if it's for more than 200ms it's a focusing error and starts a loop. Hence i feel free to look around more, panning around looking for threats. Before I felt I had to hold the scene before me still to spot targets, now I can do it in motion. Overall I feel less disorientated. I can see how sample and hold displays force the player to compensate by looking around less and keeping the screen more static and flicking or aiming by strafing or waiting for the target to move into the cross hair.
I think what I am saying is the strobed display is an automatic upgrade in seeing targets, but also gives the freedom to play without mitigating panning blur. So it gives me the ability to do things I stopped even TRYING to do. But the poorer contrast / grey black is like having cataracts.

I’m really looking forward to this monitor, and I’m waiting for more authoritative reviews to come out so I can see whether it’s worth replacing my PG27AQN, which I currently consider to be the best overall backlight-strobing monitor available.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Thankyou - based on your review of multiple monitors and how they relate to one another I have gone ahead and purchased a second hand PG27AQN for a good price ( 260 British pounds in apparently perfect condition and original box. ) .
I’m glad you bought the PG27AQN because of my recommendation. Remember to use the sRGB color gamut; otherwise, the red outlines around characters will be very noticeable. I think the PG27AQN should offer a better overall user experience than your OLED.
:>
Thankyou for the tip. I wish I didn't have the OLED because this monitor would be sufficient at half the price, however since I have the OLED, when I use the IPS display I miss the OLED, and vice verse. I hope soon we have a monitor that takes the strengths of both and combines them. Maybe Dyac 3 can achieve this. - I will be eager to compare the contrast and colour volume to both OLED and IPS.
