I only want to play my games with 60hz now 🤣. 60hz ULMB2 looks so good, as someone said it - the colors really pop. I don't understand why it doesn't look as good with 120,240 and 360 hz... So funny! Maybe the lower the FPS, the more motion clarity comes to the forefront?
That's what happens when you tune backlight strobing properly... It's unrelated to the frame rate or refresh rate.
ULMB2 (@120, 240, 360Hz) should've been akin to ULMB2 60Hz in terms of perceivable eye-tracked motion clarity benefits.... but they completely botched it...
Much better, in fact, since higher refresh rate is easier on the eyes, the total eye-tracked clarity benefits are easier to achieve & brightness would be higher...

Hey kyube what settings do you recommend for 60hz?
I strongly suggest that you avoid the 60Hz ULMB2 mode at all cost, it's extreme levels of eye discomfort.
Wait for Nvidia to fix their debacle...

I just downloaded and installed the new firmware on my ASUS Pulsar monitor and while I can activate and deactivate "ULMB 2 60Hz available", "ULMB2 pulse width" is greyed out and I can't choose that one.

Do you know what to do?
I suspect you haven’t turned off gsync so the monitor activates ULMB2 instead of Pulsar?

It would be nice if they could improve the flicker at 60hz, but if you're not sensitive to flicker, I would definitely recommend trying out ULMB 60hz. The motion clarity is bonkers. I don't even care about playing at higher framerates. They should definitely try to get this clarity in all ULMB modes though. If pulsar had this clarity from 48hz to 360hz it would be amazing.

Someone on overclockers claimed to have spoke with NVIDIA and said they can't lower the range on pulsar as they ran into too many issues. So they addressed the popular demands of 60hz strobing with ULMB instead.

Disappointing as global strobing irritates my eyes and this will limit pulsar's usage in AAA titles.

The funniest thing is, this is easily possible :)
It's all about a brightness vs clarity compromise, they just went with the former instead of the latter.
Which is prevalent across majority of OOTB backlight strobing implementations...
The PG27AQN, for example, performs extremely well on it's fixed targets (120, 240, 360) when using ULMB2.
Higher refresh rate only unlocks even better clarity.
The PG27AQN can do 0,125ms strobe on period @ 360Hz @ 24cd/m² [PW=10]
The biggest detriment of it is the use of KSF/PFS backlight...

That's one of the main reasons why I'm upset with the implementation of these models, since they've had the time to cook up a great implementation...
Instead, we got a mess.

After the firmware update, what would you say are the best setups so far for the following:

30 fps locked games

60 fps locked games

60 fps locked games with framegen to 120 or 240 fps

Well, if they can't fix all this stuff with a firmware update, I sure hope the 4k/5k pulsar gets this all ironed out.

Imo framegen the 30FPS locked games to 60FPS and use ULMB2 mode. Can use lossless framegen to force it.

60FPS locked games will depend on the game and your sensitivity to the flicker on the 60FPS ULMB2 mode, whether you framegen it to 120 or 240 and or just use it in the 60FPS ULMB2 mode.

I prefer terraria (locked to 60) frame gen’d up the wazoo because it’s crystal clear at 240 or 300 FPS but I’ll be experimenting with it in the new 60FPS ULMB2 mode some more. The issue is in the 60FPS mode I hate the 60FPS cursor feeling, I want a highly responsive cursor. But for non-cursor games this won’t be an issue.

I have been playing around with the new 60 hz update all evening and these are my take-aways so far:

It works on YouTube videos that are 60 FPS. When watching a motion test with text going back and forth on the screen, the text is easily readable, just like on my plasma TV. Also in another motion test on YouTube, enabling and disabling strobing feels ridiculous. Unstrobed 60 fps looks so horrible in motion compared to 60 hz strobed, at least on the motion test videos. On normal 60 FPS videos, there is a difference, but it's much less pronounced.

When I tried it out with gaming, I thought to myself "This is the closest I've ever seen to a CRT" in regards to motion clarity. It was insanely clear.

I ran it at 25 % pulse width for most of my testing.

I can't figure out if the 60 hz ULMB2 strobing is clearer than when I use Pulsar at 324 (that is my cap). I might be biased because when I go directly from non-strobed 60 hz to strobed 60 hz, the difference is enormous and when I go from non-pulsar 324 fps to pulsar 324 fps the difference is there, but nowhere near is big. So it's hard for me to tell if they are equally clear. If someone knows, I'd be happy to hear.

60 hz strobed does strain my eyes and while it was fun testing a lot of my games (a lot of games that are not locked to 60 fps as well), I think I will stick to only using the 60 hz strobed for the native 60 fps games (which I guess is what it's made for anyway).

I just finished playing the Pragmata demo on the PS5 Pro connected to the Pulsar. Will be buying this on PC but wanted to test out the 60hz mode properly.

Wow, 500nits at this level of motion clarity at only 60fps, 0 crosstalk, it’s so so good.

The flicker seems less harsh than when I tested ShaderBeam too. Plus the hit to brightness is nowhere near as bad compared to ShaderBeam.

Wonder why the 120hz+ modes of ULMB2 are worse, really need someone with a proper slow mo cam to see what’s going on. When I checked the 60hz mode in slow mo it looks like a rolling scan to me, similar to Pulsar but maybe with added BFI.
