NVIDIA G-Sync Pulsar monitor - Asus ROG Strix XG27AQNGV

Ask about motion blur reduction in gaming monitors. Includes ULMB (Ultra Low Motion Blur), NVIDIA LightBoost, ASUS ELMB, BenQ/Zowie DyAc, ToastyX, black frame insertion (BFI), and now framerate-based motion blur reduction (framegen / LSS / etc).

Accidentally got my MSI 272qrf x36 only yesterday, cause my local store send me the wrong monitor 2 days in a row, and i got it on a 3d day.

So, monitor comes in perfect condition, 0 dead pixels, 0 fingerprints, all cables are here( even micro usb for fw update).

After update fw and trying in pubg what can i say, the motion is nearly perfect, without any crosstalk and any ghosting, testing only pulsar, today mb ill test the ulmb2 mode.

Trying the 60hz mode and on white and some other backgrounds flickering is very noticeable, idk ( in pulsar mode is a zero flickering in every situation, u can barely see it only throughout the camera), and i can't change the power or overdrive for 60hz ulmb. Idk why. When I'm set it on, overdrive button is just grayed out.

Trying to watch some video with 60hz ulmb and cause of flickering it's hard to, just only set pulsar + 360hz + loseless scaling ( vsync on ) on 360fps ( fixed rate) and every video that u will watch is supersmooth now, try it.

With pulsar in pubg, I'm try the gsyncON+vsyncON+ullm ultra ON( nvcp ) - fps caps to 327. Trying the gsyncON-vsyncOFF-ullm on( nvcp just on, not ultra )+framecap 349-350( trying some others numbers like 319-327 ).
And i think the best motion clarity and lowest latency is gsyncON-vsyncOFF-ullm ON-framecap(349-350).

The monitor itself, after 4-5 hours of game + testing was just slightly warm, not even hot, but relatively power hunger, my last zowie xl2735 on desktop eating just 20-25w, this pulsar is eating about 40w on desktop, on game it's about 65w i think, is coming closely to OLED monitors for consumption.

And lastly, in a monitor called esports, there is a shadow boost, color vibrance and low blue light settings, but don't have a sharpness settings at all, i like slightly sharp image in a windows or movies, and here i miss this. Matte coating is way better than my last old zowie, it's close to glare i think.
If you're primarily going to use it with Pulsar and don't need 60hz ulmb2 I strongly recommend you downgrade to the old firmware. The new firmware has some ghosting issues with Pulsar at lower refresh rates.
I know that, but my fps stays good at +200 range, some 340-349fps and 1% about 250-320fps so i think im good with this

Try change the Pulse Width setting, from 100 downwards until you reach a brightness your happy with. This reduces the flicker in the 60hz mode and increases the clarity of the image.

How does the monitor compare to your Zowie XL2735? Latency feel, motion etc?
The question is, mb im blind or what, but I'm saying it previously that im can't change this pulse width, now I'm working, ill try it again evening and write here about this.

Compare to xl2735 its a superior upgrade, everything is smooth and have no tearing at all cause of gsync and pulsar, on my old zowie i have tearing no matter what setting i stay, even with vsync fast u notice the tearing, with just vsync on u have big latency jump, so pulsar now looks superior compare to old zowie, if i can compare it to OLED, mb i was not so surprised, but vs old it's good

How do you cap your fps? Ingame and nvcp frame caps did not work well for me. Both have lead to bad 1% lows and stuttery feeling. RTSS works very well.
Im capping through the nvidia profile inspector revamped ( i think it's the same cap as nvcp ), I'm trying the rtss and don't see any diff, if im use gsyncON+vsyncON+ultralowlatencymode set ultra my fps stays 327 and 1% jumping from 150 to 250, rarely 300 and sometimes even lower 100. If im just using gsyncON-vsyncOFF-ullm just set ON-framecap 349 ( i think 351 i rarely see 360 jumps and 350 dont see any 360, so im set 349 fps cap) my fps stays 340-349 and 1% stays hardly 300-320, rarely going down about to 200-270. So i stayed at last settings, mb today will test rtss more for 1% check

That sounds quite nice, I agree.
There is one more thing to have an eye on: System latency. Either through Nvidia overlay or frameview. If that is the same using framecap through nvcp and rtss... I think you can stick with what you do.
As you anyway run with vsync off, I dont expect this to be a problem. I can also use reflex now in CS2, does not affect my 1% lows anymore as long as vsync stays off...

When I'm use vsync on and fps capped through ullm ultra i have about 4-5ms in Nvidia overlay, when I'm use vsync off and ullm just ON my latency stays about 1.7 ms constantly

This has been my experience using Vsync too, I have to turn it off to stop the frame rate from moving up and down so much, is this a bug?

Been playing Death Stranding 2 recently, getting around 100+ frames so I then Frame gen up x2 or x3. With the reflex cap hitting around 327 the frame rate is so erratic and motion is not smooth. I have to turn off Vsync and enable a cap like 240 or 300 using Special K to keep frames stable.

When you use riva tuner to fps cap, go into "Setup" and scroll down for your selected profile and set the sync mode to "front edge sync"
I have found for games where you do NOT have reflex enabled in game settings, front edge sync gives the best motion clarity with pulsar at the expense of a little input lag (it works with "low latency mode" set to "on" in nvidia control panel, if you set it to ultra I found the frame time variance makes gsync pulsar do compensation pulses too often)

A note on rolling back to previous firmware, although it does allow pulsar to work at higher fps ranges, I did notice that it was a lot more picky when it would disengage pulsar and would do compensation pulses more often if your fps wasn't rock stable.

When with G-Sync Pulsar on, I try to disable V-Sync in the nvcp, and use a frame limiter such as RivaTuner, in games the experience becomes terrible, when I move the mouse I see everything shaking... with gsync + vsync + reflex everything goes back to normal, I don't know if anyone else has the same experience as me on the Asus model and with the latest Nvidia firmware
In use: XG27AQNGV | 272URX | XG2431
Used before: PG27AQDP | 27GR95QE-B | PG248QP | XL2566K | XL2546K/S | XV252QF | AW2521H | VG259QM | PG279QM | AW2721D

When u disable vsync, try to use reflex just on, not ultra, and if game don't have reflex, just nvcp ullm just on, not ultra, and compare it with framecap, when u use vsync u need reflex ultra for fps cap itself about 327, but than u have lower 1% fps

Idk what's going on clearly, im update the fw when monitor comes up yesterday and i can't find where i can set pulse width for 60hz ulmb mode on my msi 272qrf x36. I think this is a BUG or whatever this is, or I'm rlly blind.
Turn off gsync - set 60hz, turn ulmb on, turn 60hz ulmb on and i don't have pulse width setting in the osd

I think the MSI version doesn’t have the option, I mentioned I thought it was odd a reviewer said the 60hz mode was too dim on the MSI model here:

viewtopic.php?t=15149&start=720#p123933

It seems like Nvidia hasn’t added the option yet for that version oddly.

This reviewer: https://youtu.be/OMhM58lK3m4?t=1016

Might also explain why you’re seeing quite a lot of flicker but hard to judge.
