Lines on the screen are not normal, unless it's this:
"However, like any OLED, there are thin gray vertical lines in dark scenes"
Personally, I can't see them, but I can see something that looks like vertical bar gradients in dark gray in fullscreen or near-fullscreen gray.
jorimt here mentioned that he saw OLEDs that would look dirty out of the box and required a couple pixel cleaning cycles to clear up the panel and make it uniform. I didn't observe anything like that here though.
Thanks for your reply. I used the monitor yesterday for like an hour and the improved uniformity still stays (I use patterns gray 5% to test it) unfortunately i didnt have time to take a picture out of the box but it looked indeed as defective panel. I will keep testing the monitor as much as I can so i wont run out of the return period just in case that vertical line comes back.
I knew about the "break period time" but on my cx for example, banding/dirty effect never changed over the years, perhaps a bit worse in terms of use. That's why it surprised that drasctic change on uniformity in less than 30 minutes of use.
Gamma does affect black levels. You can test it here:
Ok i will test gamma, but yesterday it looked comfortable 2.0 for windows desktop use and for gaming 2.2 looked a bit better than 2.0.
I usually do it every 4 hours. I might skip it sometimes though if I forget. Usually when the notification pops up, I just ignore it or cancel it, but then run a pixel cleaning cycle manually when I leave for a chore or need to go to the bathroom. It only takes 4 minutes, so it's usually finished already when I come back.
To have quick access to the pixel cleaning function, I mapped it to the control stick in the "My Favorite/Shortcut" section of the OSD.
Whether it's better to run it every 4 hours or not, I don't know. I don't see why it would be worse.
Out of the box I set it to 4 hours (still the reminder hasnt popped, so I assume i dont even have 4 hours of use)
I was just asking because on the lg cx the refresh pixel cycle tends to degrade the panel but I think the cycle that degrades the panel is the 1 hour cycle which i think is not available on this model.
Regarding power, do you happen to know if is possible to prevent the monitor to turn on when plugged to power automatically? I have the monitor connected to a power strip with a switch that I turn off every night so as soon as i turn the switch on, the monitor turns on.
Thanks again for your time

Don't do that with OLEDs. Leave them plugged in. They need to be able to run pixel refresh cycles when they're off.

Yes i know, on my cx I ended up leaving always plugged in because the tv actually never tells you when it does the cycles.
But i thought with this one since it reminds you when start a cycle, i could switch power off safely after 10 min or so turning it off.
So just to check, on this model is normal that always it will turn on when plugged in to ac? On first boot up it scared me that it woke up by it self

All modern monitors I remember using always did that. They activate, then go into standby mode after a few seconds when there's no input signal. Basically they forgot that you manually turned them off when you cut power.

Thanks for the confirmation, i come from a tn samsung 22' 10 years old i didn't know about that, i will leave it always plugged in.
I'll keep testing, i haven't even tried hdr settings but in sdr in general the monitor looks amazing and have more than enough brightness for a daily use.

I plan to use this monitor only with windows and ps4/ps5.
For ps5 this monitor lacks HDMI 2.1 bandwidth, don't know if that is important for you (maybe not at the moment) without HDMI 2.1 bandwidth this monitor cannot take full advantage of the Ps5 (4k @ 120hz).

Yes i thought about that too, but if I am not mistaken 1440p 120hz requires just HDMI 2.0 and 4K 120hz requires HDMI 2.1.
Since this monitor is limitted to 2K I think hdmi 2.0 should be enough for ps5 with this monitor.

Yes that's right with one difference; with HDMI 2.1 the Ps5 can downscale a 4k signal to 1440p which seems to be more detailed than native 1440p signals.
Personally I don't use a Ps5/Xbox so I don't know if it's a big difference in quality.

also in hdr, 120hz and 144hz seem to give better black levels there is youtube video thats shows that called "Black Clipping 4k UHD HDR 10 Calibration"

This is also true in SDR.
