Keyboard polling rate affects mouse!
Keyboard polling rate affects mouse!
Like many of you i have been dealing with a heavy/floaty mouse in fps games. This problem only appeared for me in 2021 when I upgraded my setup. Around this time I purchased a new monitor(XL2546K), Mouse(EC1-C), and keyboard(ZOWIE CELERITAS II). At the time I knew something was off but I couldn't pin point it. I just assumed that it was me just getting accustomed to a higher hz monitor. Last week I bought a new keyboard because the zowie was too big for my liking. I bought a Glorious TKL white ice & on my first game i noticed i was back hitting my shots with no problem. So fast forward I download the glorious software to customize the rgb & realized that i was also able to configure to polling rate of the keyboard as well. By default it's on 125hz. So i raised it to 1000hz because it should be better right? No, I was having the same heavy mouse feeling that i had with the zowie keyboard. So then I went and tested each polling rate in aim botz & realized that 125hz felt natural. The higher i raised it the worse the mouse felt. Come to find out the zowie keyboard defaults to 1000hz. Ever since I bought this keyboard i have not had a problem since. I would seriously encourage people to test it out as well. It drove me crazy. I don't think windows can support high polling rate devices at the same time regardless of the usb port. Believe me i tried. That's just my theory. Btw i have not made any tweaks to my system at all. My Nvidia control panel settings are set to default. Intel 12700F/3070. 800 DPI FTW
Re: Keyboard polling rate affects mouse!
Hello. I have a keyboard with a polling rate of 8000Hz, currently using 4000Hz as there is not much difference.
Yes, a higher keyboard frequency makes the mouse a little slower, but it's hardly noticeable. I currently have a 4000hz keyboard and 4000hz mouse. All this works together perfectly without fps drops and unnecessary delays.
Most likely your system is not configured, so there are problems.

If it is noticable, then it is a big deal. People here are trying to perfect their mouse input and would pay money to find more unknown things that affect the input.a higher keyboard frequency makes the mouse a little slower, but it's hardly noticeable
Re: Keyboard polling rate affects mouse!
This does not affect the game or your aim. Obviously, the high refresh rate of the keyboard puts additional strain on the processor.
This is clearly visible on a conventional operating system.
If you set it up correctly:
if you connect the mouse and keyboard to different usb controllers, separate the usb controllers into different processor cores, disable all unnecessary usb / pci ports in the bios, then you will practically not see any additional delay from the 4000-8000hz keyboard.
Re: Keyboard polling rate affects mouse!
Notice how he says if you set it up correctly & disable this & that you’ll be perfectly fine. Not knowing that when I was dealing with that problem I went down that rabbit hole of trying every tweak in the book. I’ve done it all & seen it all. Notice how I don’t have to mess with my system to achieve a responsive mouse. But hey to each his own.

Depend of the game you play, on Apex Legends, you can clearly felt that it's slower and can affect your aim.Arrogant wrote: ↑16 Aug 2023, 01:30Like many of you i have been dealing with a heavy/floaty mouse in fps games. After all, some mice also have DPI Deviation and we can quickly confuse certain things.
