Questions about Input Lag (mostly) for competitive fight game

Post by Feox » 23 Jul 2024, 17:41

Hello! I'm inquiring about a subject concerning Input Lag... I'm an average beginner Tekken player recently but who is only obsessed with 1 thing, becoming always and even better and the constant tryhard of the game! And given my current old 240Hz IPS screen which has a few dead spots, I plan to do a real setup, part of which is for Tekken. I plan to buy the Asus ROG Swift OLED PG32UCDM for Triple A and competitive games that I play because I also do video and this screen interests me given its QD OLED panel for video and its FPS flexibility. On the other hand, I hesitate to take a screen dedicated to Tekken because that's where I have questions. I see that this screen has an Input Lag of 0.50 at 240Hz and 10 to 60Hz which is therefore 10 to 60Hz for a screen of this price and these specs from what I have seen apparently compared to its competitors... But if the screen runs at 240Hz on a game stuck without Vsyc at 60 fps like Tekken because it's the game that wants that, is it the Input Lag at 60Hz that is counted or is it the one at 240Hz who is counted? Also, if the screen I have as a target is bad, what are the current good screens in Input Lag for games like Tekken? Before I would have said the BenQ Zowie RL2460 without debate 4 to 6 years ago but since the large OLED screens of 2022-2024 is there a debate between BenQ and its esports technologies and OLED? Because in any case for games targeting response time and the quantity of FPS I know that BenQ's DyAC no longer pleases everyone compared to the 360Hz and 480Hz OLED but for fighting games (Street Fighter, Tekken, SoulCalibur, etc...) where are the technologies and advances and particularly those of Input Lag? We're moving towards OLED, is BenQ still in the race, other brands have since dethroned? I'm asking myself all these questions because I'm looking for something as optimal as possible for a budget of 1500€ max excluding delivery and I'm a fan of technology ^^'... Naturally, for this price, i search a screen who can last me 8 to 10 years minimum... Not a screen like somes i heard which only lasted 4 to 6 years... The colors of the panel don't matter to me for Tekken because it will be an esports screen but if you recommend OLED for responsiveness and Input Lag, I would like a reference which for uses which can often go up to 6-8 hours/ day to last me several years in addition to having excellent specs given what I know about the somewhat fragile lifespan of certain OLED screens... Also, one last question... Is image processing faster on a game/software running at 60Hz blocked if the screen can do more like 240Hz,360,480, etc... on frame rate speed, response time and maybe the Input Lag or not? I have a lot of questions because I am new to screens and I would like to gain more expertise on the subject... Sorry again for this long thread and thank you in advance for all the answers you will give me ^^!
