I can now run my XG2431 Voltage LED Overclocked to 275 Nits STROBED

update I now run it 275 Nits strobed PWM 40 ISET 160

1 week constant use and it's fine I intend to stop here it works up to 290 but I know its stable and safe at 275 so I am sticking with this just to be on the safe side..


So far I can confirm the XG2431 set to 40 PWM and 150 ISET voltage = approx 260 nits strobed "Pure XP+ Light"

Normal PureXP+ in light 40 PWM is 200 nits.

I have tried it up to ISET 170 voltage which is a whopping 290 Nits strobed higher than DYAC2+ which is only 280 nits.

It worked fine but I wasn't sure if it was safe so I backed down to 260 nits ISET 150

To access the service menu you need to power off the monitor then hold the 3rd "middle" menu button and while holding press the power button then when monitor turns on just press any menu button and it will take you to service menu from there change PWN to 40 and ISET to 150

Enter and navigate to exist top middle part of the menu

You would need to do this again if you ever press the power button on the monitor as it resets, unplugging the monitor totally resets everything.

Hopefully the next blur buster 2.0 monitor comes with 290 nits strobed like the XG270

OOh and Chief I hate the XG2431 it has HORRIBLE matte coating grain I hate looking at this monitor please try to get a monitor with light matte coating

I wonder if the BlurBusters Strobe Utility has access to make those adjustments but it's just not exposed in the GUI.

Thats interesting

I really wish I could know if I could go higher and by how much, it seems to also work fine at ISET 170 aka 290 nits strobe, strobing produces way LESS heat on the monitor because the backlight is off for a certain amount of time every second

290 nits overclocked strobe which is extreme somehow produces LESS heat than if you ran this monitor stock in HDR mode.

Chief needs to be more involved in the design of these monitors, we need a blur buster approval that incorporates minimum 280 nits strobe like Zowie does

Since I am running this fine and stable for weeks now stress testing 260 nits strobe there is no reason this monitor should be on 200 by default, the engineer at viewsonic was very clearly LAZY when he set this to 200

Two weeks at 260 nits at 40% pulse? Decent boost! That's a successful OC to ~650 nits pulse instead of stock ~500. In that case u can probably get it even higher I guess. But u never know when will the LEDs give up.

I got it to 270 nits ISET 157

Running it 2 days now, note this is strobed so the monitor is a LOT cooler than running 500 nits HDR constant, much less strain.

I guessing I could get away with ISET 170 but not willing to chance that one.

I will stick to 270 nits ISET 157 as its been stable for 2 days now doubt anything is gonna change but will run 270 nits for another 2 weeks hopefully it runs just fine so we will know for sure.

ISET decisions are a vendor tweak that is often capped, until things like a service menu...

Modifying ISET can void a monitor's warranty -- it is appealing -- just putting this disclaimer out that this setting can damage LEDs.

That being said, some vendors are generally fairly aggressive with this overvoltage booster.

Also your monitor may not turn on anymore if ISET is too high, at least until factory reset. This monitor setting is literally like removing a CPU voltage limiter.

Do this setting at own risk.

I am fine with that risk, been running it almost a month now and it's fine I am sure it will hold up just fine.

With that said I managed to push it to 275 nits strobed stable, and I am sticking with that, it works fine at 290 nit strobed also but to me it feels too risky.

So I have settled at 275 Nits, monitor is a LOT better now than that horrible 200 nit that viewsonic had it set to at default

I fully believe 100% that the Engineer was just lazy and didn't bother to set it higher.

One thing to note, even at 275 nit strobed it has way LESS heat on the display.

If I run this monitor 500 nit HDR mode you can actually smell a faint hint of burnt smell coming from it, and you can't even touch the screen because it's so hot.

Overclocked 275 nit strobe which is probably around 700 nit boost the monitor is a lot cooler and no burn smell.
This means the monitor is safer overclocked strobed than constant 500 nit HDR

PWM 50

If you unplug the power cable from the wall on the XG2431 it resets btw

I found a tool that allows me to change the rest of the standard parameter while still in the Service Menu, called ClickMonitorDDC.
Very convenient if I want to play with ISET and adjust RGB values, Contrast, Color Profile, Source Input, etc.
Still, I wish I didn't have to use workarounds and break warranty to turn brightness lower than 85 nit. :|
