High Polling Mice and Keyboards, what USB Lanes are you using?

Everything about latency. This section is mainly user/consumer discussion. (Peer-reviewed scientific discussion should go in Laboratory section). Tips, mouse lag, display lag, game engine lag, network lag, whole input lag chain, VSYNC OFF vs VSYNC ON, and more! Input Lag Articles on Blur Busters.

High Polling Mice and Keyboards, what USB Lanes are you using?

Post by Alpha » 16 Dec 2024, 12:56

Hoping for some discussion and observations regarding what lanes everyone is using for their high polling peripherals.

I run 8000hz mice and keyboard. My input options are,

CPU
Chipset
RTS5420

The motherboard manual has a diagram pointing to the chipset.

Anyone tested? Any pros and cons, latency, frametime, or otherwise? Best practice or does it matter?

USB 2.0 directly to the CPU, things like XHCI Hand-Off and every hidden BIOS setting regarding USB 3 is off as well. I don't notice any inconsistency, just better latency after testing every port one by one.
