Hi there, this is my first post and I am pulling what little remains of my hair out.
I was playing FF17 Rebirth day before yesterday and I noticed I got a stutter at quite regular intervals, every 8 - 12 seconds. I was playing on my Samsung S95B QD-OLED (144hz). I activated the frame time monitor in afterburner and rivatuner and I noticed that I had a huge single frame time spike every 8 - 12 seconds, it was always spaced like this. I limited my FPS to 60 with RTSS and got a complete flat frame time graph, but I still got this spike at the same intervals. I did some 3Dmark stress tests and I didn’t get any frame time spikes, only when running games. I also tried Indiana Jones and the same thing happened.
I swapped back to my 1440p sync 165hz monitor on my desk and the spikes completely disappeared! Put back on my TV and instantly came back. I have no idea what is causing. I have tried everything from disabling XMP, RGB, AV, gsync, vsync.
I am running a 7800x3d with a 4090, 32gb of 6000mhz RAM, nvme 1TB. So I am not running low-end hardware.
I only get the stutters when I use my S95B OLED. If it matters, I use a fibre optic HDMI cable for 8K.
Please, this is driving me nuts!
UPDATE: In the end I figured it out. When I transferred the signal to the TV, one of my desktop monitors went into a standby mode which kept searching for a display port signal every 10 seconds or so. Each time it did the signal search, I got the huge frametime spike. I have switched it to HDMI where it no longer signal searches and I no longer get the spikes. Perfect flat frametimes! I hope this helps anyone who might have the same problem

Re: Stutter only at 4K on OLED
Does it also happen if you switch to 1440p on the TV?
