My fix for inconsistent always random input lag
My fix for inconsistent always random input lag
I have had latency/floaty mouse issues from when i switched from a vega 56 to a rtx 4070, like the moment i switched i was like damn no way nvidia has so much latency. Then i googled and everywhere i looked it said there isnt a big latency difference between those. Since i couldnt accept the jump in latency i got into this loop of looking for tweaks for widows, tweaked my bios, tweaked everything but i couldnt get that low latency feeling back. I then proceeded to upgrade my hardware, i upgraded every single thing, even the case. I also bought new nvme's etc. Everytime i changed something it felt better, but i always knew this isn't it yk. But then just a few days ago i thought ill just go troubleshooting with ai (chatgpt).
While doing that i put my pagefile to init/max 8192/16384 ,
uninstalled every driver that DDU can ininstall (went on audio selected one -> uninstall, then the other -> uninstall, same for graphics)
then went into NVCleanstall and installed an older STUDIO driver (537.58).
---
Edit: Things i did at the same time while rebooting after driver update:
- updating bios, setting xmp, not touching PBO since my 7800x3d isn't using a lot of wattage by default and my cooling is beefy
- disabled com port0 in bios since i don't use it.
- set pcie hard to version 4 in bios.
- went into my motherboards manual and connected my devices as i should (see attached)
- swapped my mouse cable from razer's default cable that came with the Viper V3 Pro to another that has this Ferrite bead at the end. At least one of these fixed a problem i had only inside of Bios where i had to lower my mouse Hz to 125 because otherwise i had to drag my mouse around really hard and it was uncontrolled (basically the floating mouse issue x100). I have had this problem on my old b550 board and now b650.
---
And wow. Floaty mouse -> gone. Low Reflex (on+boost) working now (visible difference i have not had b4)!!! In my case on valorant.
After doing these 3 things my game doesnt throw 100 hard page faults a minute anymore and the "Highest reported DPC routine execution time on nvidia's driver went from 700μs to being overshadowed from my network driver which has 220μs.
Im 100% sure its shouldnt be Placebo as i have often been tricked already by my mind.

Re: My fix for inconsistent always random input lag
From his image it is a blue one, btw, Usb 2.0 has slightly lower latency
Re: My fix for inconsistent always random input lag
i mean red one sorry, the point was on my mb says the blue one is 5gbps,so where should i put my mouse then? i plug my mouse uper and my keyboard bottom because of this topic viewtopic.php?f=10&t=7618 ?
Re: My fix for inconsistent always random input lag
USB 2.0 has lowest latency, then 3.0, then 3.1JimCarry wrote: ↑12 Mar 2025, 01:02i mean red one sorry, the point was on my mb says the blue one is 5gbps,so where should i put my mouse then? i plug my mouse uper and my keyboard bottom because of this topic viewtopic.php?f=10&t=7618 ?
I’d use 2.0 if your board has it, tho a lot of newer ones are doing away with it nowadays
Re: My fix for inconsistent always random input lag
But the wholy "Chief Blur Buster" made a topic to tell exactly that to never put high hertz devices next to each other? yet you are telling me to put my mouse and keyboard next to each other on black ports in my case?Mr1991 wrote: ↑12 Mar 2025, 12:39USB 2.0 has lowest latency, then 3.0, then 3.1JimCarry wrote: ↑12 Mar 2025, 01:02i mean red one sorry, the point was on my mb says the blue one is 5gbps,so where should i put my mouse then? i plug my mouse uper and my keyboard bottom because of this topic viewtopic.php?f=10&t=7618 ?

he meant not to place devices on the same usb controller.
Re: My fix for inconsistent always random input lag
You could have mouse in 2.0 and keyboard in 3.0JimCarry wrote: ↑12 Mar 2025, 13:31But the wholy "Chief Blur Buster" made a topic to tell exactly that to never put high hertz devices next to each other? yet you are telling me to put my mouse and keyboard next to each other on black ports in my case?Mr1991 wrote: ↑12 Mar 2025, 12:39USB 2.0 has lowest latency, then 3.0, then 3.1JimCarry wrote: ↑12 Mar 2025, 01:02i mean red one sorry, the point was on my mb says the blue one is 5gbps,so where should i put my mouse then? i plug my mouse uper and my keyboard bottom because of this topic viewtopic.php?f=10&t=7618 ?

Re: My fix for inconsistent always random input lag
