This part was the funniest bit to me:
To demo the monitor, TCL played a video showing two Roman soldiers battling each other. But a company representative told us the demo clip wasn’t hitting the 1,000fps rate. Even if it did, we’re doubtful we’d notice any difference. The other issue is that the latest HDMI 2.1b and DisplayPort 2.1b spec only supports 8K up to 60Hz and 240Hz, respectively

Yeah, showing a 60 fps video only demonstrates 60 Hz, which defeats the whole point of 1000 Hz. Looks like someone didn’t do their homework... Since they chose a 'no interaction' demo, they could’ve at least run testufo to demonstrate motion clarity. Or heck even testufo.com/mousearrow for showcasing motion blurrity improvements. 1000 Hz is starting to look convincingly real.

Never heard of this. I assume they chose that video because they wanted to show off the "8k" as they compared it to "4k". Only problem is the panel isn't really 8k in any sense. So they compared it to "4k" by zooming into... A 1080p video.

They (samsung really) should really call this 7.6k to distinguish.... Its neither 8k or 8k uw....
Also my calculator says this 10 bit 7680×2160p by 960hz would require around 860 gigabits,ps bandwidth wise. Even with the most extreme compression with VDC-m (dsc by hardware). It would still be 140gbps ish. I guess that fits into two dp2.1 cables. No idea how that would work. (Unrelated. 5k 960hz is 770gbps.)

I think I'll stick to 4k 240hz / 2k 960hz+ until they figure out compression.
