I bought a fake 600hz monitor, help.

Post by F1zus » 16 Jan 2026, 20:50

Today I bought a Chinese 24.1-inch 1920x1080@600Hz monitor https://item.jd.com/10183300763565.html. The seller assured me it had an M241HTN01.9 matrix, supposedly the newest 600Hz one. But after purchasing it, it turned out that when connected to DP2 (the second port), it outputs 4K 144Hz (fake), but when connected to DP1, it outputs 1080p 600Hz. I have an old Dell monitor with 240Hz, and a detailed comparison on the desktop (using the mouse cursor) shows absolutely no difference. In CS2 at 700 FPS, there's a very slight difference. In the UFO test, there's also practically no difference.
Now I doubt this has a real 600Hz matrix.
All programs, like cru, show 600Hz. Tell me, is there a way to use a phone camera to find out what the monitor's actual refresh rate is?

Why would you waste your time on a fake no-name brand monitor that leaves you figuring out whether the refresh rate is genuine or not?

Refund it and move on.

It's not so easy to do when you buy from abroad, you need to coordinate the return with the seller.
But I'll try to return it.
But for now, I need help with the CRU. Can you tell me why the maximum refresh rate I can add to the CTA-861 is 281Hz? The values below are in red. I need CRU settings from other 500-600Hz monitors.

Indeed there is:

Make sure to read the instructions on that page.

Okay, I set the shutter speed to 1/15th of a second, took a photo, and there are no missing pixels. I see 17 white squares arranged one after the other. But how do I know the actual refresh rate is 600Hz, and not 240Hz, for example? It seems to me that the Chinese manufacturer modified the monitor's firmware, and it actually has a native 240Hz matrix, and it actually refreshes at 240Hz, but the software shows 600Hz, both in tests and in CRU.
Initially, the FPS in this test equals your monitor's refresh rate. But since the refresh rate may be fake, the FPS will be 600 in the test, while the actual refresh rate is 240. In this scenario, will the test be able to determine the monitor's actual refresh rate?

Make MPRT Indicator test https://testufo.com/mprt#number=decimal

starting from 480pixels/sec. "Values" set to always decimal.
If monitor has 240hz vertical lines will touch edge-to-edge without overlap or gap at 4ms( number under the bars).
If there is a gap increase speed to 960 pix/sec or 1440 pix/sec.
If the monitor has 600hz bars will touch at 1.6ms
LG C1 55"

Absolutely correct. The Ag248F is the model, but the name varies on each Chinese website: sometimes it's Aodeong Ag248, sometimes AOGONG AG248F. Here are its specifications and photos.
And I'm not sure if it has a true 600Hz refresh rate. As I wrote earlier, VRR only works up to 240Hz. Naturally, it's connected with a DP 2.1 cable (included). The graphics card is an RX 9070XT.
I'll try to figure it out using your advice.
