Is there any variance between 2 monitors of the same type?

Just wondering if there is any QC variance between different panels of the same monitor, ie if you bought 2 of the same, might there be a difference?

Yes. Both LCD and OLED have manufacturing variance so there's a high chance there's differences between units of exactly the same model.

On LCD, the biggest differences are backlight bleed and panel uniformity. Those are the big ones because they're easily visible. The differences in color gamut are not really visible in normal use unless you measure them. Or at least they don't stick out and look like defects, as is the case with BLB or the "dirty screen effect" or "clouding" due to uniformity variance.

On OLED, the biggest difference is panel uniformity. Other differences like peak brightness or long-term burn-in susceptibility are there, but don't stick out just by looking at them. So cherry-picked review units that vendors send to reviewers is still a thing with OLED.

Obviously this doesn't include actual defects and damage, like dead pixels or scratches.

How about motion clarity performance, i'm specifically thinking for 600hz BenQ, ie strobing / motion clarity etc?

Motion clairty variance is not a factor. Just the things RealNC mentioned.

benq zowie has the best motion clarity imo, if you cant hit 600fps and 600hz, just make a custom resolution to what you can achieve, i was playing a game at 144hz 144fps on zowie dyac2, amazing clarity

I'm pretty certain that the 86X+ has a fixed pulse width akin to other DyAc2 models.
144Hz shouldn't look sharp at all.
From the 66X+ review, that DyAc2 model (when setting it to the highest setting) has a voltage boosting behavior of ~1000cd/m² down to ~250², which would be ~25% PW.
This would make 144Hz on it ~2ms on strobe period.
I highly doubt that the X2586X+ is remotely better than this, since Zowie (& majority of other vendors) optimize displays for the highest refresh rate setting. It likely targets a even higher pulse width...

The pursuit ladder pattern doesn't align on the 144Hz DyAc photograph.
Be also mindful that 144Hz doesn't scale evenly on 960px/s, which means that the left UFO isn't 960px/s.
It's either ~864 px/s (6 px/fr) or 1004 px/s (7 px/fr)
The right UFO is slightly faster (1220 px/s)
I've come across this analysis which seemingly claims:
DyAc Premium:
• a 12–15% PW @ 120 Hz
• a 15–23% PW @ 240 Hz
• a 20–31% PW @ 500 Hz
• a 19–32% PW @ 600 Hz
DyAc High:
• 16–18% PW @ 120 Hz
• 17–25% PW @ 240 Hz
• 22–32% PW @ 500 Hz
• 23–32% PW @ 600 Hz
That would somewhat coincide with the photograph you've provided

Sorry I wasnt trying to be accurate in pursuit, 6am just quickly trying to reply before work , but ufo wise 144hz dyac2 is clearer than 610hz non strobed TN LCD (excluding noticeable crosstalk)

I thought I was on pulsar thread, :D I sometimes browse that Japanese website blog, it's very cool, even bilibili videos are most of the time far more detailed and more effort than YouTube English review videos :D

That frame chasers guy is very strange :D
