I’m making this post just to share my experience and what I’ve discovered about it. I started noticing this “lag” when I couldn’t rank up from Champ 1 on Rocket League. I thought it was a skill issue, but after reviewing my 50/50s, my car behavior and that every single person that I played against got god reflexes and was always perfectly positioned definitely was something related with this “lag”
On a random day after 6 months I decided it would be okay to play again, but this time on my laptop. Downloaded rocket league and Fortnite and boom both games felt so good for about an hour… the lag started increasing with the time. So know I thought it could be a software issue or location issue, I tried any possible optimization and still no success during this period of time I played on different locations and different hardware and got the same results; good for a really short time, even though I played for weeks on different places. Know it wasn’t something electric/hardware/software/location related
-connected myself to 2V (mixed results, jumping from stable to unstable and vice versa in seconds)
-Wire with low electric power around the controller joystick (same as being connected to a battery)
- gloves (exceptionally good for around 20 minutes, starts degrading when I start to sweat from hands BIG CLUE HEREEE, same with ESD gloves)
- DIY grounding (connected myself to a homemade ground with an antistatic wrist. Makes the games kinda stable around 20-25% more)
-Pot with water (this works really well for 5 minutes then the game feels bad again.)
-Socks wrapped in controller (best result so far. It’s what makes feel any game more stable than anything, sadly after sweating or hands transferring heat the stability starts disappearing slowly BIG CLUE HEREEE AGAIN)
-playing while someone else touches my arm (it works for like 30 minutes, then lag appears again).
-Shielding the controller with aluminum and antistatic tape (yep, aluminum wrapped on the controller and paste it with antistatic tape, worked fine for a while then the lag came back. Noticed that if I added new aluminum or tape the lag disappeared for a short period of time).
That’s all I can remember right now if I remember anything else I would put it.
Hypothesis: I think what makes us feel this lag it is something related with our sweat and how we transfer heat with our hands, that’s why no matter the location, hardware, software the lag appears… I’m a believer that causes some type of interference that manifests during time, that’s why we only have came across with just temporary solutions for an insignificant time by changing how we interact with the software or hand composition until it starts manifesting again. It would give a big piece of evidence if someone manages to play with some gloves that shields hands completely (basically almost no physical interaction with the hardware to manipulate) or if someone manages to shield their software and play at least the ones that allows inputs K&M or controller. I’ll like to add that this lag is more present on online games simply by the nature of how the games interpret inputs.
If you think I missed something feel free to add.
Extra observations/niche observations:
I’ve saw that if you mess with game settings, the lag disappears for secs or a minute, same when changing a network setting from your modem.
Messing with the display resolutions also have the same effect, but weirdly on different resolutions is more stable. For me it has been 1280*720 windowed, I completely don’t know the nature of this effect
Squeezing/hitting K&M or controller also makes the lag disappears for seconds.
Having air around hands from a fan or A/C makes the lag disappear for seconds randomly.
This might sound nuts. If someone is passing near your setup, the game can feel stable for seconds
Message:
First I want to thank you all for reading what I said somehow is also a way to vent about this bc if I’m being honest I don’t have anyone to share this lol and the few relatives I’ve, they called me crazy lmaooo
Also please stop buying new hardware unless you really have documented or proved that’s actually a hardware issue, otherwise you are just wasting money and probably mental health if it doesn’t work.
I’ll put 4 sections, one with temporary or possible fixes you guys have found, other with observations/hypothesis you have, one for one where you guys can share your profile (do you sweat a lot, on what you play and blood type <- this just to see if there’s some sort of pattern, height and weight) just share it if you feel comfortable about it and the only purpose of this is just to have as much information as we can and finally one for general discussion of what i said or in general.
