Looking for ViewSonic XG2431 successor (MiSTer, GNU/Linux emulation...)

Hello,

It seems that the ViewSonic XG2431 monitor was silently "phased out" by the manufacturer: stock dried everywhere and there are no new deliveries planed.
My theory is that the model was killed off based on high failure rate (search for "xg2431 lines" and you will find a big number of reports on the issue, including on this very forum).

I must say that I already have an XG2431 and it's a fantastic monitor, the best I have ever had, but I know it will eventually get the same illness that so many users report.

Now, I need to get another monitor for my girlfriend, and we're into MiSTer and emulation mainly, so what would be your recommendations in the vein of the ill-fated XG2431?

-I would be used in conjunction with MiSTer FPGA, so motion clarity at 50/60Hz is the main objective here.
-VRR/FreeSync is a must, too, because we do some emulation on GNU/Linux: we don't use anything NVidia so G-SYNC is of no use.
-Great durability is a thing for us, so OLED is out of the question.

Yes, I noticed the XG2431 was killed off. It seems the successor is a Pulsar monitor. I recommend reading the topics on the monitors with Pulsar hardware to decide if one is right for you.

Do you only have space for one display? Because if not, I would recommend a CRT for MiSTer and if you mean retro game emulation, you could look out for a multisync CRT (240p60 & 480p60), but they are very expensive and hard to find.

But all the 240p consoles look and feel amazing on my Sony PVM 20M2MDE. For 480p, I simply use a 4:3 PC CRT.

Apart from that, as mango87 already wrote, there’s pretty much only the Pulsar monitors which support 60Hz strobing. Do note that the input lag is a little bit higher on that one compared to your XG2431. But NVIDIA is has it noted to potentially improve the latency.
