Moving on from my ageing xl2410t

Post by Paulyyy » 03 Jan 2015, 09:28

Hey,

I'm looking to upgrade my monitor, right now i'm trying to make a decision between several models. I had the ROG swift for a day but the pixel inversion flaw was too annoying for me. I really like the idea of G-sync but I don't think I will ever really benefit of it since I currently run 2x 980GTX's. I just want a monitor with good motion clarity and somewhat better colors than my current xl2410t.
Right now I'm looking at:

EIZO foris fg2421
Benq xl2420g
Benq xl2430t

I play CS:GO fairly actively, but also play casual games like far cry 4.

Thanks

XL24020G is a great monitor.
Doesn't have the flaws of the ROG, and EVEN if you had problems with the gsync module causing 'inversion' issues (some people were hinting that some flaws only happened in gsync mode), you can ALWAYS Switch back to classic "Z" mode and use benq blur reduction instead. id' definitely recommend that if you want to play with Gsync.

XL 2430T is a 2420Z with 3d vision 2 (lightboost) removed, but with a new stand, ability to adjust strobe duty and strobe phase (intensity and area) through the OSD instead of having to go through the service menu to do it, and new display color tweaks (digital vibrance, black equalizer 2.0 (not in standard mode) so you can get an image you like, much easier than the previous Z models (one user was able to match the color tone of his 2430T with a side by side IPS monitor, just by using the OSD controls and no ICC profile!)

Eizo Foris fg2421 has a 5000:1 VERY high contrast ratio and DEEP blacks, but is a bigger panel lottery than the ROG Swift is, as far as screen defects, cross hatching, and other rather serious issues. This monitor is NOT SUITABLE FOR CS:GO because there is TOO much input lag in turbo240 mode--MUCH higher than the ROG Swift or Benq Z series or Asus VG248QE...it's noticeable enough to affect your play. This would be a great monitor for 2D work and non twitch based RPG's and single player games, though (like Bioshock)

I can only guesstimate that the input lag is like having vsync on (on one of the much faster panels) at between a 75 to 85hz refresh rate (we all know how vsync on at 60hz feels...)

Wow thanks for the detailed response. Do you think that either the xl2430t and xl2420g will give me improved colors and overall picture quality over my old xl2410t?

I don't know, since I don't have the 2410T, but I would guess so? I mean it is newer and all...
