I was lucky enough to have an RMA accepted on my brand new Acer a few weeks, even though the bright pixel defect fell below the returns threshold.
Now my new AOC monitor also has a bright pixel stuck on red near the centre of the monitor. If I read the chart correctly, AOC have a 1 bright pixel policy, which is pretty good compared to Acer, but still not good enough to get me an RMA.
Am I just really unlucky or what? I never thought spending a decent amount of cash on a quality monitor could be so hit or miss!

Yeh tried all that.
I guess I am just really unlucky.
Unlucky that I got two monitors with dead pixels and unlucky that I'm the type of OCD guy that this will annoy.

Why don't you return it to the retailer?

There is a standard that applies to dead pixels and each manufacturer classifies their product by this standard. Nobody has a zero dead pixel policy I'm aware of. For example Acer will not accept returns unless there are more than 6 dead pixels if I recall correctly, AOC is better but they will not accept a return for a single stuck pixel.
To the manufacturer, it's not a defect, but a risk of the manufacturing process.
Retailers follow the same code so this is not a valid RMA.

Did you actually try to return it to the retailer? These policies aren't set in stone you know.

I submitted and RMA request, but I know dead pixel policy, so I knew the result was not going to be favourable
if you take note of our terms and conditions, monitors conform to a certain standard, ISO 13406-2, unfortunately due to the size and class of this monitor, 1 dead pixel would not class a fault I'm sorry for any inconvenience caused

Could he use his fingers to push instead?

Bad luck then. What country are you in, may I ask? I assume you're not in the US, but I thought European/UK consumer protection laws were a bit better in that regard anyway. Of course, that's not going to stop the retailer from trying to stiff you in any case.
