Re: Benq Game modes
I don't know but they are pretty useless to be honest. they just change some colour settings and such.

Re: Benq Game modes
They replace the existing profiles somehow by some sort of DDC communication. I don't know about the XL2730Z but the profiles on the XL2411Z/20Z/2720Z etc usually overwrite the RTS preset and rename it.
You can't use an XL2730Z preset on a previous Z monitor.
The presets have *low level* color calibrations that the user has no access to. For example, the FPS1 and FPS2 presets (they are identical except for the default setting for black equalizer):
Pure reds and blues and greens seem to be the same as standard mode.
However certain shades wind up becoming other tones.
For example, Cyan becomes a greenish emerald type shade instead of Cyan.
Orange shades take on a more red tone, making orangeish red tones become more reddish. This also reddens some browns too.
Yellow intensity is toned down somewhat.
I'm really not sure what the point of that is. I do know that the FPS1 and FPS2 color calibrations are based on tuning to Counterstrike 1.6 (or Source) and Counterstrike: Global Offensive. Maybe it's based on tuning the palette in some way, I don't know.
I didn't test the RTS preset but it seems very similar to the FPS preset, but blue is turned into sky light blue instead of regular blue. How is blue important in a RTS game? StarCraft 2 or something has too much dark blue?
Gamma settings are disabled in order for the black equalizer to work (it adjusts the gamma of dark colors while leaving light/whites mostly alone). There is significant color crushing on the edges of the RGB spectrum even at contrast 40, in the FPS modes (if RGB user values are set to 100).
