So i got a Pg258q of Amazon and i was wondering if tn panels are even supposed to have backlight bleed my Pg258q seems to have even more than my old Pg279q had. Is this normal for this panel or should i just instantly return it for a new one?
Pg258q left pg279q right

return it. I'll take a pic of mine later tonight. there's no way it should be that extreme. I have a very faint ammount on the bottom only noticeable on black.

Backlight bleed is completely independent from panel type. All LCD displays can have BLB. TN, IPS, VA, whatever. As long as there's a backlight and the manufacturer refuses to use very thick bezels (because people think they're ugly*,) there's going to be BLB. No way around it.
(* Yes, people seem to prefer BLB compared to very thick bezels. Go figure...)

Thanks for all the infos. So some blb is normal good to know but i guess mine is pretty bad though since i can literally tell my windows taskbar is brighter in the middle because of the bleed.

Typical Asus stuff! I lost count to the Asus monitor that I had to sent back due to awful clouding/backlight bleed issues. Is one of the brands with the worst quality control out there. They sell every sample, be it good or bad, in the hope of the customer accepting it. Profit + Profit. I would return that monitor for sure!

Yeah amazon is amazing on returns. I might get the Alienware AW2518HF since it is 150 € less and Gsync doesnt seem to work if you have two different refresh rate monitors that support it anyways. Also i remember reading somewhere that quality control on backlight bleed and stuff is way better with dell. But 240hz for me felt way smoother than my Pg279q for sure on fast paced games so i want a working 240hz monitor now
