MSI Oculux 24.5" NXG252R 0.5ms 240hz now available!

Post by zerocool » 28 May 2019, 05:44

Hello, sorry if i'm posting in the wrong place.

Just wanted to let everyone know I just spotted the 0.5ms MSI NXG252R on BestBuy website in stock and available for purchase!

I'm so tempted to buy it, but i've never owned a MSI monitor before so i'm kinda scared of how well their overdrive will be implemented
compared to say Asus/Acer/Zowie.

Here is the link to it:

https://www.bestbuy.com/site/msi-oculux ... Id=6343763

Also, here is MSI's generic product video for it

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FMNVNFXAOSM

Just noticed in the video at the 0:39 mark he says "1ms or less response time" instead of quoting 0.5ms specifically. Interesting...

If you notice, Asus also says his XG258Q is 0,5ms on their website: https://www.asus.com/us/ROG-Republic-Of ... fications/

I have this monitor and it doesn´t use any new panel. I guess that´s all marketing by MSI tbh but let´s see.

And it´s a shame most 240hz monitor are still on that 24,5 inch size with 1080p :(

Oh, I didn't know that the XG258Q was also quoted 0.5ms-1ms. That's interesting. MSI possibly using same panel then.

I still haven't figured out which panels are supposed to actually have a 0.5ms response time vs those where "0.5ms" is just abused as a strobing pulse width measure... :P

Oh yeah! And I can warranty you XG258Q "doesn´t feel like 0,5ms" at all, it feels the same as every other 1ms 240hz monitor, if not worse on some colours :D

With the multiple pixel response benchmarks available...

Currently, 0.5ms now exists as a GtG measure (10%->90% metric) as well as an MPRT measurement. But not necessarily both in the same model of monitors. And it is true that many manufacturers still do not specify both GtG and MPRT numbers.

When they say "1ms Response" without specifying which pixel response benchmark, GtG or MPRT, it's meaningless.

As seen in the newly updated Blur Busters GtG versus MPRT FAQ.

Thankfully, some monitor manufacturers are starting to take heed.

So I just received this monitor.... I am blown away at the quality. I LOVED my XG248Q but it has a flaw I couldn't look past... It had horrible vertical clouding I could see in dark games and in dark mode on my desktop.

The NXG252R I got has zero clouding, no overdrive issues I can find (I assume because it use an actual GSYNC module) and is a realllly fast panel.

Why is NO ONE talking about this monitor?

Honestly I just haven't seen anyone talk about the monitor other than the post announcing it on here. I actually bought it from Best Buy after seeing that post. (They don't have it in store)

Whats weird is MSI doesn't even have the monitor listed on the website. I thought bestbuy was just going to send me a NXG251R... but when the box came it does say 252 0.5ms on it.

What I want to know is THIS monitor the NXG251 that was supposed to come out last year? I emailed MSI and haven't heard back.
