Setting up and playing with 144 frames on BenQ XL 2546?

Post by Naty53 » 25 Sep 2019, 23:29

Hello!! I've been reading the forum and it's gold, it's amazing how very detailed information do you guys manage, so I think this is the best place to ask.

After A LOT of research these days I am very likely going to buy the BenQ XL 2546 (I'm really in love with that monitor), but only a few questions draws me back from buying. I plan to use it for Rainbow Six Siege at competitive level, I've been looking everywhere and I can't seem to find an answer to the following:

First situation is: My pc can currently run Siege around 144 fps. Since I've read that strobe motion (using Dyac in this case if I understood that right) is better at 120Hz@240hz and at 220fps@240Hz. Then, it should be better to use the monitor at his maximum hz regardless of my fps.
But
I'm going to have any visual problems like sttutering or other stuff while playing at 144 frames on 240hz because of my framerate being too low from the monitor's hz ?

The second situation: in case I will have troubles and I decide to use the benq 2546 but configured at 144hz.
*Can I actually set the monitor to that hz? And will I be able to activate Dyac?
*Is going to have the same quality/performance/no visual issues as playing on a real native 144hz monitor? Or is it going to be worse?

What about the input lag in first and second situations?

So, depending on the answers I'm buying the BenQ xl 2546 (the one I want the most) or the BenQ xl 2411.

I hope you guys can help me and please feel free to give tips or recomend another brand/model if you think it would be better for my situation.
Sorry for the long post and thank you for this amazing forum!!

Try both. I was happy with BenQ XL2546 for 9 months, until I tried other monitors. Even my rig can't provide 240 fps in Siege, and at 144 Hz, on ViewSonic XG240R siege looks more blurry but actually feels better and more responsive. I also recommend trying MSI KD25F.
You can set BenQ XL 2546 to any HZ, and DyAc works with 144 Hz, 182 Hz, 200 Hz, 240 Hz.

Hey, thank you for your answer!! But It's kinda hard for me to try them since the refund policy here in my country it's almost non-existent, I can't refund if I didin't like the product, thank god you barely can if it's faulty hahaha. So since I will likely have one chance to buy (no refund), I will keep checking the post to see if someone here knows a bit about this inquiry I'm having.

What worries me the most about it are the stutters and the input lag.

P.S: Thanks for providing the Viewsonic model, I've been checking it up since it's interesting your feeling about the responsiveness, I would have to see some reviews though, since I don't have much info about it.
Thanks again!

Did you end up getting the 2546 and if so what do you think of it?
