New monitor is needed and i am completly lost

Post by Oevi » 17 May 2020, 02:30

Hey guys,

just ordered a new pc system with a r5 3600 and a 5700 xt. So i want also to get a new monitor.
Right now i am using a dell u2515h as my main monitor, playing everything on it mainly WoW right now. My second monitor is a LG Flatron W2261VP (ye rly old), its only used for watching twitch/youtube etc. while gaming.

So now my problem. Valorant is coming and i want to get a great montior for fps and i don't know which way to go.
1. Go 24", 144hz, IPS with for example the AOC 24G2U
2. Go 24", 240hz, TN (maybe Acer XF252Q or the HP OMEN x25f) or IPS (MSI optix MAG251rx or Asus VG259qm)
3. Go 27" were i would get more options to pick from. Maybe going 144hz WQHD?

Concerns:
Option 1, dont know if 144hz would enough, don't want to miss good feelings playing fps.
Option 2, the colors of my flatron are so bad and i don't know if new tn panels got much better at this.
Option 3, i am concerned 27" could be to big for fps and i am used to 25" wqhd so 27" fhd could look bad.

The new monitor would be mainly used to play valorant. Playing wow and the dell will still be fine and i won't miss wqhd.

Hope you help my to clear my mind.
Thanks :)

If you want great colors and fast response, I'm a big fan of 240Hz 1ms IPS panels.

However, either 144Hz and 240Hz will be a motion quality and latency upgrade to almost anything 60Hz you are currently using.

All the listed options appears to be upgrades relative to what you just described.
