Just got the Omen x 27. Should I keep it?
So I made this thread about my PG258Q and how it was blurry and couldn't aim as well with it. Well I finally replaced it with the Omen x 27 and saw an instant improvement, I'm not sure what it is but this monitor allows me to stick my crosshair onto targets just as I could with my xl2411t. Maybe it's just because it's bigger?
Despite finding it easier to aim with I'm still not sure whether I should keep it since the image quality is a bit worse (poor uniformity, edges darker than center) than my PG258Q. Should I wait for a good 1440p 240hz IPS monitor instead? I was going to get the MAG251RX as it's pretty much as fast as the Omen x 27 but I can't find it in stock anywhere but after using 1440p @ 27" I don't think I want to go back.

Re: Just got the Omen x 27. Should I keep it?
My PG279Q has less input lag than the PG258Q, and according to rtings the Omen X27 has lower input lag then the PG279Q. This is probably why, coupled with the sharper image, you are able to aim better. A lot of people thought that the PG258Q had lower input lag than anything at the time because of the 240Hz, that just was not the case.

Re: Just got the Omen x 27. Should I keep it?
Yh I did see that the Omen has almost 0 processing delay compared to 2.9ms on the Asus which is why I wanted to try it. I just didn't think it would make any difference since a quake player called toxic uses the PG258Q and his aim is insane.
Re: Just got the Omen x 27. Should I keep it?
I am pretty good at fast paced shooters with the PG258Q as well as the PG279Q, but can still tell the difference in input lag. Honestly, I can now tell a pretty big difference going to a XB253Q GX as well. Input lag makes a pretty big difference in competitive games. I would rather have a lower resolution TN panel that has lower input lag than a higher resolution IPS with higher input lag in competitive games.
Re: Just got the Omen x 27. Should I keep it?
I'll have to try the PG258Q again, it might be easier to notice since I've used the Omen for two days now. I also wouldn't use an IPS over a TN but these new panels have really low input lag, the MAG251RX is almost as fast as the Omen. Sure there are other 240hz 1080p TN's that are even faster but the gap is getting smaller.STOPchris wrote: ↑07 Jun 2020, 15:16I am pretty good at fast paced shooters with the PG258Q as well as the PG279Q, but can still tell the difference in input lag. I have VG279QM, but still like more TN motion clarity and saw in hardware review that Omen X27 has the lowest proccess signal delay https://youtu.be/YPk0REW6qBc?t=628
Now trying to find somewhere the same information or who can confirm this that input latency as good as 240hz IPS have. Probably, will change my VG279QM to this if so.

They seem on par.

Yep, I saw it, little bit confused that Rtings never writes about proccess signal delay, only saw it in hardware review that X27 has 0.2, hope so..STOPchris wrote: ↑09 Jun 2020, 11:41https://www.rtings.com/monitor/reviews/hp/omen-x-27sk1p wrote: ↑09 Jun 2020, 01:54I have VG279QM, but still like more TN motion clarity and saw in hardware review that Omen X27 has the lowest proccess signal delay https://youtu.be/YPk0REW6qBc?t=628

Yeah, it would be nice if TFT Central reviewed more monitors. I tend to like their reviews the best.sk1p wrote: ↑09 Jun 2020, 15:08Yep, I saw it, little bit confused that Rtings never writes about proccess signal delay, only saw it in hardware review that X27 has 0.2, hope so..STOPchris wrote: ↑09 Jun 2020, 11:41https://www.rtings.com/monitor/reviews/hp/omen-x-27sk1p wrote: ↑09 Jun 2020, 01:54I have VG279QM, but still like more TN motion clarity and saw in hardware review that Omen X27 has the lowest proccess signal delay https://youtu.be/YPk0REW6qBc?t=628

Re: Just got the Omen x 27. Should I keep it?
So after using the omen for a few days I do prefer it over the PG258Q for gaming but I don't think it's worth the price I paid. If it was around £400 I could look past the grainy coating and the poor uniformity but at £550 I expected better. I'm still not sure if I should just return it or get it replaced and hope the new one has better uniformity and 0 dead pixels since mine has 2.
What's a good way to compare input lag between these two monitors? I've tried using stopwatch from flatpanels.dk and taking pictures with a shutter speed of 1/4000 and the PG258Q is either the same or 10ms faster which doesn't seem right. I have to run both monitors at 1080p 240hz (tried gpu no scaling and display no scaling) when duplicating the displays tho so that could be causing some issues.
