Buy XG270 or wait for XG271QG?

Post by leekamon » 16 Feb 2021, 04:00

HI all,

As the title pretty much explains everything. I had a question in mind that has been driving me crazy. Is it worth the wait to get the new ViewSonic monitor XG271QG or would the XG270 be the same as that. I'm mostly interested in the motion blur tech (Pure XP+). I'm really just wondering if the never monitor would out perform the XG270, in terms of the motion blur. If not I'd buy the XG270 any second now. I do know that the XG271QG is a 1440p monitor which is a bonus if you ask me. I'm currently using Samsung's G7 Odyssey and looking to change it up. If anyone has any idea about this, Please don't be shy and help me out! Thank you.

The XG270QG had the red phosphor which affects strobing, www.blurbusters.com/red-phosphor

I am not sure if XG271QG omits the red phosphor.

I have the XG270QG and its color are absolutely beautiful in non-PureXP mode and if you were not going to use PureXP, I would wholeheartedly recommend XG270QG or XG271QG, with the native GSYNC chip doing a superb job at having zero noticeable ghosting/coronas at varying frame rates -- it's very consistent GSYNC experience, 1440p wide-gamut high-Hz native GSYNC for gaming is one of the best eye candy short of FALD.

So some of the best GSYNC "visuals" out there short of getting a GSYNC Ultimate model or LG OLED model (despite its issues). However, PureXP.... be warned about the red phosphor in the high-Hz wide-gamut 1440p IPS panels.

Thanks for the info chief! Since you have convinced me on the XG270QG, My only concern right now is how much of a downgrade is it compared to the Samsung G7, Which I'm currently using. I'm assuming the G Sync chip is much better on the Viewsonic than the G7. I love the 240hz on this monitor but I can do with 165hz with the viewsonic one. I'm just really concerned about the colors and motion blur really.

There are 1440p 240Hz IPS wide-gamut coming out this year. You could wait for those, too.

Registered to ask.
First of all, you doing awesome job!
I was lurking at blurbusters for some years now)
My question is - do VS XG270 has this red phosphor issue? Cause it is hella expensive in Russla
I was looking to buy it, to replace my horribly brightness flickering (while freesync is active) samsung c27jg54...
All i want is flickerfree freesync experience while getting as lowest as possible motion blur.

Neither the XG270 nor the XG2431 has the red phosphor.

P.S. There is an announcement forthcoming pertaining to the ViewSonic XG2431. ;)
