Re: Asus XG27AQDMG Discussion
I tried both 90-100 Brightness for both Gaming and Console HDR, they both exhibit that dull shade of yellow. Examples of this can be like MH Wilds benchmark tool where the benchmark score is graded yellow, you can see its perfectly vibrant in SDR but when you go HDR you understand what I mean ...

Re: Asus XG27AQDMG Discussion
Regarding those who want to use the Nosrgb method yet still retain the vibrant and popping colors of Wide-Gamut/Racing Mode, you can use these settings. On lagom test 1 almost blends in with background and all other squares are visible, I haven't seen any gradient issues in the black to white ...

Re: Asus XG27AQDMG Discussion
No, even in HDR supported titles like Monster Hunter Wilds benchmark for example, there is a clear and distinct greying out on stuff when enabling HDR. What I mean is that the white that looks really bright in SDR looks dull and greyish in HDR. Just check out the subtitles in game for example ...

Re: Asus XG27AQDMG Discussion
Visiting this post back again but man, I have to say this monitor kinda disappointed me. The black crush in SDR mode has you choosing between lowering your refresh rate to 120 (essentially halving it) and losing out on the vivid colours from Racing mode. The HDR mode looks insanely washed out and ...

I accepted the 240Hz black crush :P I prefer a subjectively good looking image compared to raising black levels too much. And hey, some black crush means you're making video compression artifacts in dark scenes less visible, right? And you get a bit of contrast boost as well :mrgreen ...

Re: Asus XG27AQDMG Discussion
You're not really supposed to see the first square though. Maybe in a completely dark room. And in general, only square 5 should be more clearly visible. 1 should be almost invisible and 2 just barely visible if you focus on it. Only once you get to 5 it should be easily distinguishable from the ...

Re: Asus XG27AQDMG Discussion
They mentioned shadow detail for HDR in the notes - does anyone know if the black crush in SDR is fixed?
It's not fixed. You can mend it by doing what the original poster did with nosrgb, but even then I encountered some flaws in actual gameplay scenarios. For example this image from FF16 ...

Re: Asus XG27AQDMG Discussion
Anyone managed to get a satisfactory result from HDR on this display? I've tried everything, RTX HDR, Auto HDR, Brightness Adjustable 100, Windows HDR Calibration Tool 0/1000/1000 0/920/920, I still can't get satisfied with what it outputs. FF16 is probably not the best game to showcase HDR on, I am ...
