Re: Video Feature on Input Lag and Frame Rate Limiters

Excellent video. Showing the distribution of input latency points being ranging over additional full frame is really nice. This drives home how render queues really don't sync up with the screen and input latency not only gets worse but varies more too. Hope you do more investigations including with...

Re: Do G-Sync compatible monitors on Nvidia GPUs still have more input lag in 2020?

Battle nonsense only tested one monitor. With displayport VRR turned off on the monitor menu the GPU *should* just treat it like any other dp monitor. Obviously either AMD cards were treating the monitor special with VRR off or Nvidia was. In general though, this means any given monitor could have d...

Re: Brightness flickering in some games but not all

At this point I think we need a PSA from all the tech sites telling people not to buy freesync monitors that are not certified by nvidia for gsync compatibility for use with nvidia GPUs. Its going to hurt the perception of VRR for years with all the issues. If its not on nvidias list, and you have a...

Re: Issues with 240hz Alienware AW2720HF black screens with freesync/gsync enabled

Yes, freesync on modifies the overdrive effect a lot. The fast/super/extreme still change the overdrive but only very slightly. Basically all freesync monitors except a couple use fixed overdrive for VRR. Gsync module monitors have the one clear benefit of variable overdrive. Too bad you couldn't fi...

Re: Issues with 240hz Alienware AW2720HF black screens with freesync/gsync enabled

Just some thoughts: 1. Try checking cables are snug and make sure to use displayport cable that shipped with the monitor. 1080p240f is a good way to find marginal cables. 2. Try disabling free sync (aka gsync) in both the nvidia driver and the monitor ui. If this fixes it, it could be a driver bug o...

Re: Is Freesync on Nvidia broken?

The XF252Q isn't gsync certified which means nvidia found issues with the adaptive sync implementation when testing it. Beyond that some monitors show something akin to instanaeous fps instead of average fps, so thats why the fps from the monitor and app dont match.

Out of those choices the PG258Q is a very safe bet. It's actively being used at LAN tournaments. It was probably the best of the first-gen TN 240hz monitors.

Re: Switch to 240hz or stay at 165hz

If you have the IPS version of the Asus PG278 then the 240hz ips panels are a big upgrade in terms of pixel response / motion clarity. If you have the TN version it its less of an upgrade for motion. But a 240hz IPS has better viewing angles which people often describe as "better colors" because eve...

AW2720HF 240hz IPS Monitor Thoughts

I'm a long time lurker to blur busters and just got the AW2720HF monitor a few days ago. I saw a few people ask about the AW2720HF so I thought I'd post my thoughts. I'm a gamer (Overwatch competitive, GM peak) and play lots of RPG/FPS games around that. Game/VR developer in my past work life, so my...
