I have officially solved my "input lag" and "desync" for VALORANT

Post by koljaFTW » 26 Jul 2024, 04:02

For over a year I have been plagued with issues regarding VALORANT that only arose around late 2022. Recently after spinning my mouse cursor in circles in game, and tabbing out, and seeing the difference, I noticed that something had to be wrong with my refresh rate in-game. I have a 240hz monitor, and VALORANT says it is 240hz. This wasn't the case. It defaulted to 144hz for some reason.

Solution: Go to NVIDIA Control Panel, Manage 3D Settings, Program Settings, find VALORANT, and set "Preferred Refresh Rate" to Application Controlled.

To be honest with you, I have no clue how I did not figure out this was the problem earlier. Something has always felt off however, and I can officially say everything that has felt wrong has been fixed. :D

This might not be the solution for you, but incase you're worried, open your monitor's OSD and find an option that will show the refresh rate on the top right. If it's correct, should display 240 for you.

How did you know it was defaulted to 144hz?
