Yes but you also said editing the VT lines just produces the same results as switching to 180hz ie VRR isn't actually working even though it looks like it's working in the OSD and mouse movement, and that this causes frame duplication. I have changed the VT lines on 240hz to the point VRR flicker is gone, but I have no frame skipping or duplication(I think, only found out about this test)RealNC wrote: ↑28 Feb 2025, 16:06I said that the 180Hz mode is broken and that every other mode is not affected._zebracrossing666 wrote: ↑28 Feb 2025, 08:39Hey, I just did this frame test while VRR is enabled and with the custom VT lines method.

Have you updated the firmware? https://rog.asus.com/monitors/27-to-31- ... desk_bios/

Re: Asus XG27AQDMG Discussion
Hi all,
Bit of a long message. Switched my monitor and PC on one morning and I noticed the colour was set to SRGB but showed wide gamut, upon checking the osd settings, changing from SRGB to DCP3 and Wide gamut, the screen would "react" but not actually change the colour profile. Additionally, the colour temperature setting would not work, setting 4k, 7k etc. Nothing changed.
I took a flash drive and tried to update MC104 (Firmware already on MC104) but it would not flash, the screen would switch off and back on again. This however fixed the colour and settings issue, but another bug persisted. The only way I can describe this bug is somewhat of a screen jolt from left to right, like extreme "pixel move" if that makes sense. It's extremely jarring and its most definitely not related to pixel shift.
I have updated the firmware via the USB cable but this jarring screen shifting motion still persists. Any thoughts ideas or anything I can try? The monitor is around 2 months old.

Re: Asus XG27AQDMG Discussion
@RealNC Hey bro, I promise this is my last question about VRR o.o
Do you know if VRR causes gamma to change at low fps on IPS monitors too and we just can't see it because it can't show darker shades as well as OLED?
I have decided just to play with VRR on default settings and try and ignore the slight brightening of dark areas, the flickering was never really an issue with me anyway. I tried using Reshade Levels.fx to artificially darken dark areas instead, it kinda works but obviously not the same. After fiddling between the VT tweak and normal VRR, the smoothness is just too good to worry about the gamma change.

None of the IPS monitors I used had that issue. They can show dark shades just fine, just not total blacks._zebracrossing666 wrote: ↑04 Mar 2025, 14:49Do you know if VRR causes gamma to change at low fps on IPS monitors too and we just can't see it because it can't show darker shades as well as OLED?

Re: Asus XG27AQDMG Discussion
oh damn, I thought the VRR flicker/gamma was a thing inherent to VRR but it just wasn't visible on IPS or something. Idk why more people don't talk about the raised gamma issue cause IMO the flickering isn't the worst part. We buy these OLEDs because they're advertised as deep black colours, but they don't tell you that VRR ruins it to an extent. All I heard about was flicker, I know that and the raised blacks are related but not once did I hear about the gamma change from a reviewerRealNC wrote: ↑04 Mar 2025, 15:42None of the IPS monitors I used had that issue. Re: Asus XG27AQDMG Discussion
The flicker is caused by the gamma change though. If an OLED doesn't have VRR flicker (like some laptop OLED screens,) it also doesn't have gamma change._zebracrossing666 wrote: ↑04 Mar 2025, 16:06oh damn, I thought the VRR flicker/gamma was a thing inherent to VRR but it just wasn't visible on IPS or something. If you toggle the RTSS frame limite on/off for example with a hotkey, and have set it to 60FPS, then when you toggle it on and off you'll get a good understanding of why there's flicker. If you press the hotkey really quickly to rapidly toggle between 60FPS and 240FPS, what you get is close to what flicker is. During frametime spikes and unstable frame rates, this switching between different refresh rates is much quicker than you pressing the FPS cap toggle. Rapid flicker.

Re: Asus XG27AQDMG Discussion
If I want to use 240hz with HDR but not enable DSC, does the monitor use 8bit+dithering in place of 10bit native?
